Clearly stands to make far more money in the private sector. Making somewhat of an assumption here, but if that's his driver, then each to their own. Happy the man who can play a hobby to international standards!

I do recall andrew strauss being interviewed at the start of his England career and being asked if he is envious of uni friends who stand to make millions from working in the city while he gets by on a cricketers salary. His response was that he had the chance to write his name into sporting history and would rather be remembered for that than any amount of money in his bank account.

I always liked him after that!

Maybe after the last tour he feels he is not going to make it at the top level he has quals  others dream of.

Hmmm, first Fabian Cowdrey and now him - all the bright young things finding greater lures outside of the drudgery of the county scene?

May he's looked at the fact that he didn't set the world alight for England and isn't starting games for the Surrey 4 day side, with captain Batty and part-timer Borthwick ahead of him?

Hopefully a choice for positive reasons, and not another England international suffering from mental issues to add to the list.


Good luck to him and his future endeavours, and good luck to any oppo that come across him on a sat in the amateur leagues.....

Cambridge law graduate, makes sense. If I were being honest it doesn't feel like too much of a shock, then he's hardly been helped in his earlier years when he got shoved up as an opener.

Still gutted about that thumb injury on the day he got selected for the the tour of the UAE

i think you have to remember that Ansari is a bit of an anomaly, he has a double 1st from Cambridge and a Masters from Holloway!

Pretty mediocre player with no real long term future to get a central contract(£750,000 salary). As a fully qualified lawyer he can easily make around £250,000 per year just sat on his backside.
