interesting post match interviews I thought, Morgan saying Roy stays in the side as he has scored a lot of runs in the past. Bayliss wouldn't commit that far.

it's a tough call this one, Roy has potential to change a game, Bairstow...well.....he's just one of the best in the Country, test and one day cricket.

We are going to play two spinners it seems so there's no real spaces available.

a few years ago we were rubbish at one day cricket, now we cant get everyone in the team who should be.

I would leave Roy out of Thursday, it' tough but he's not in form and Bairstow has been for a long time.

Rashid / Ali to go and Bairstow in, possible Ali out - although a handy bowler and a very good bat. Only other alternative could be to get rid of Buttler for Barstow but then again, the question of potential comes to the fore. Buttler shows flashes of brilliance.

Nor can I - the ginger leprechaun as good as said "Jason is my mate and Jonny isn't, so there". Its the most obviously wrong call, but I cannot see them making the change this late in the piece.

Hales and Roy have opened for a while - why disrupt this partnership before a major tournament? Who would open with Hales if Roy was to go?

The only option imo is a direct swap Roy for Bairstow as opener, I don't think they will do it (and I'm not 100% sure they should either) but that's (in my opinion) the only way to get YJB into the side right now, all this talk of dropping Ali is rubbish he's just had a good couple of all round performances against the no1 ODI side why would you drop him?

I am sorry, but I can't see that the wickets will be that dry that they will merit 2 spin bowlers plus Root who can pass as a third spinner if called for!
And changing the opening pair is not really viable at this late stage!! So it would still be (assuming they are fit!)

Roy
Hales
Root
Morgan
Bairstow
Stokes
Buttler
Ali/Rashid
Woakes
Plunkett
Wood

Obviously change 4-6 round however, but I still think that would be the strongest team.

England have played two spinners at home in 14 of 18 ODIs played since the Australia series in 2015. Only two of the four single spinner games were live matches.

Because Roy is out of form and Johnnys in form Root could open and Johnnys as done the  opening job for his county.

A couple of games in a tinpot county competition is just like opening in a world tournament....

Good players come good.

For all YJB's form and Roy's stinky run. there's still very little between their ODI averages and Roy has likely opened for all the games he's played. I like JB but don't really see that there's a spot for him in the side at the moment.

Bairstow  has already come good and has been good the last eighteen months...

Averages don't count for much  when your out of form pick the inform guys and your more likely to win.
