Martin Crowe & Mohammad Azharuddin
« on: May 25, 2017, 01:34:35 PM »

Hi guys, I read that Martin Crowe used a 2:4 (an article he wrote on criciinfo) and Mohammad Azharuddin 2:4 (Atherton's biography) (if I recalll correctly). Do you think it's possible to have pingy blades at that weight or a couple of ounces more in this day and age? (Both guys weren't short either).

Your thoughts pls, thanks

Absolutely, i've seen 2 or 3 2'4s this year but all are long sold.

2'5

2'6

Remember some of these bats have a toe guard or scuff sheet, or both.

I have a naked 2.6 CA which is absolutely ridiculous. So definitely possible.

Size 6 bats can be pingy. I have a few that were custome made by Laver and Marty Graham of MG2 Cricket. The lightest one weight 2-8, fully dressed. Take off the stickers, toe guard, and scuff sheet, then you are looking at a 2-6 bat.

Opening the batting on our fast bouncy  track  for me it's all about bat speed  so I use a GN 2lb 4 ounce  mid middle pro performance prestige it as all the wood in the right places  pings a treat

That's encouraging. I prefer light bats, my current one has a shoulder crack (weighs about 2:9), in the meantime I'm using a 2:13!!!!

Would have thought that would create a timing problem especially when hooking pulling and cutting.

I had a splendid Salix at 2lb 4oz, one of the best bats I ever had, certainly prefer a light bat to a heavy one.

I've had a grays at 2'7 with scuff sheet and edge tape went like anything. Sadly no longer with us though.

@Vitas Cricket - that shoulderless Salix is rather nice, was that one of the light ones - what actually is it?
