Story goes as follows:

In April 2017, Cricket Store Online (of USA) conducted a contest for GN Supernova 5 star bat, which is priced at $360 in their website. My friend won the contest and our team was happy to finally have a good team bat. He asked them to knock the bat for which they charged $60. Yet, we were happy as we paid $60+ shipping for a $360 bat. After, waiting anxiously for the bat to arrive, we found that it is one of the worst bat in terms of performance. Its ping is worst than a $50 bat. Now, we use the bat for tennis balls cricket or in nets.

My take away from this experience was don't get excited for free bats from cricket store contest  ;)

^ HAHAHAHAH

You have to give it to the business that it is very clever marketing: they created a Lotta hype for practically a bad that's not worth firewood logs.

....

Finally I took a large size carpenter's hammer, and started tapping it.
I slowly moved to full blown BANGS with the metal head for at least two weeks. I thought it will wake up a dead horse but the that bat remained dead !!

I finally sold it on eBay for 29 pounds.

It is simple calculus for me. What is my weekend/practice/bat knocking time worth?  And, I learned that lesson the painful way.

@InternalTraining  Agree. The whole team got involved in collecting votes to win the contest and our friends started hating us for pushing them a lot to vote. All the effort put on getting this bat was a waste of time and hampered relationship among friends.  :D

Used our second team captains Kook Kahuna in the nets last night... Absolutle plank... which i was very keen to point out too him. It did have the smallest of middles but everything else was dead as a Do Do. I got him a really nice NB sourced off a fellow forumite that he has been using for the past few weeks.. but it just so happens he has barely made a run with it... seriously out of nick. Ironically batting last night we had a middling bat.... and surprise surprise he was smashing everything with it. The NB is just too heavy i think.

Sometimes a batsman in bad nick plays extremely well in abnormal batting atmosphere - like on a horrible pitch or with an unusual bat. I think it's a stroke of luck in the batting world where two negatives result in a positive.
