I bought 3x Slaz V1200 Fusions for £25 ea in a SD sale so I can't complain too much that 2 were right planks. The pressing was rock hard in places and soft in others. No amount of knocking in helped.

Sold the 3 to team mates for the price I paid telling them they weren't that great which they accepted for the price. Later in one of them the glue in the Hex handle gave up so when playing a shot it sounded like you were gnashing your teeth.

My mates GM Mana Original  bought from an online retailer, he has stuck by it for 3 seasons hoping it will open up but honestly my £75 MB Sher E Amin performs better.

SF triumph bought from OLS, grains are decent but not sticking out, bleached willow with some slight blemish, just didnt look right and after several hours of knocking in still doesnt responds.

I had a GN Fusion 500 and a GN Megadrive. The dud was me buying bats on looks or gimmicks not what I actually needed. Megadrive was great for another batsman.

One person's trash is another's treasure.

That said i had a early db2 that sounded awful. Didn't deter me and I think they make a awesome bat now. Early adopters be damned.

Had an SS Ltd Edition once. Couldn't hit it an inch. Replaced that with a L&W that went like stink, that got loaned to a team mate and never returned!

Interesting that there seems to be quite a lot of GN bats on here!

Off the top of my head I would say there is only 2 from 30 odd one a old style predator 5 star and the worst one was a Warsop platinum.

Had 2 absolute planks in my time but seen a lot!! First one was a newbery series 1 from years ago and I recently bought a Python in the Kohli profile that quite simply hasn't got a middle and the stickers were like they'd been done on a printer in someone's front room.

Duncan Fearnley 405.  Absolute plank from memory.  I've still got it and It's the only bat I have left from my childhood.

Unfortunately, I stripped it and took the twining off the handle, so I can't use it to see it it's as bad as I remember.  I wonder if I should get it done up and see how bad it is.  Can you get repro stickers for these types of projects ?

I had a Kookaburra Genesis Hurricane in Harrow when I was in year 8 so ten years back now. First game I used it in it pinged for a while but then stopped, went from easy scoring to labouring to 46 in 25 overs for school. Next club game opened up, retired on 31* in 18 overs. On my coaches advice sent it back, Kooka/Fordham Sports did their thing and it went OK. Until the splice fell out and it split down both sides of the spine. Took it back and replaced on the spot for an absolute rocket that saw me through the next season and a half.

DF might refurb and re-sticker it, if you're game.

I once fell for a sales pitch - "Custom made bat (Kashmir willow) for 35 pounds"

So I placed the order with this seller in India - a light bat, around 2.7 with 35 or more edges.

These were the good old days when they didn't use tree trunks in the name of cricket bats, so the technique  of using "super using over dried clefts to create monster bats in extra light weight" was not too popular.

So in order to meet my specs he made me a "custom bat" in size harrow or even small size.
The blade was 104 mm in width and length was also 1.5 inches short. The blade also had a big knot in the middle.

I took the deep cold sigh after opening the parcel and wished if I had played lottery or just tossed 35 pounds out of the car window, instead.

This bat was dead as it gets. I knocked it in for a week, and took it to nets for a season but not an iota of difference.

Finally I took a large size carpenter's hammer, and started tapping it.
I slowly moved to full blown BANGS with the metal head for at least two weeks. I thought it will wake up a dead horse but the that bat remained dead !!

I finally sold it on eBay for 29 pounds.
