I thought the bowlers bowled very poorly at Gayle and Lewis but as mentioned previously Rashid controlled the innings nicely. The problem with the batting was when we lost one wicket we had a habit of losing two or three in quick succession.

I didn't think they did a great job structuring the line up to be honesh - hiding YJB away at six made no sense, when he would have been better coming in at four and controlling the chase, with the two hitters in behind him for acceleration.

It certainly showed how valuable Wor Sturkes is - he just balances the side so perfectly.

I agree but I think it was risky giving both Stokes and Moeen Ali out the team as they are the two proper consistent all rounders but tbh a T20 isn't the end of the world

Even though it was just the one game, wouldn't this have counted as a series for the purpose of world rankings?

Personally can't get my head around needing a rest when Stokes would've been looking at a 4 over bowling spell and half an hour or so of batting at the very worst - surely he'll do far more than that in just an average days training?

That's a very valid point as he's been spoken to in the past about doing too much and burning himself out

Thought we were just a batsman light, chasing a decent target and losing wickets in clusters at unhelpful times. Would have been a good time for David Willey, in particular, to show why he bats in the top order in domestic cricket!

To be fair, imagine Stokes was probably quite grateful for a few days at home with the family with his feet up! More about having a week off training than missing the game I'd have thought. Odd that we didn't select our three top allrounders and didn't call up anyone to replace them though, if you're going to rest players then surely it's the best time to get a look at who might be the next generation?

I think they need to persist with Roy as he's been solid at the top of the order with Hales for a few years now, I'll never forget being at the Oval in the ODI vs Sri Lanka last year watching his hundred with was in some respects a KP style innings. Lets also not forget Hales had a sticky patch and was fully supported by the ECB. I think Roy is one of those players who is firstly going through a rough patch where nothing goes his way and secondly the way he plays in a positive manner from ball one can be hit and miss but when he gets going hes destructive as we've seen from Roy in both Surrey and England games. As an added bonus he's very strong the field which means a lot in modern white ball cricket.

I really like Jason roy. But he must play himself in a bit.
The best batsmen in the world do i don't see why he can't

Yes we want a fast start but he needs a chance-kp a good example of getting in in test and one day cricket

Totally agree with that as he feels to help Hales he needs a fast start, if the balls there to hit, hit it yes I agree take some time

Anyone know what the forecast is like for today?

Also, a little fun challenge - predict England's highest run scorer, highest wicket taker and most economical bowler (for 4 overs or more) for today:

Stokes - Rashid - Plunkett

There you go, guaranteed bad games for those 3!!! :)

Think I agree with your bowlers but I think Hales or YJB will top score.
