On another subject, am I the only one who thinks that Willey is a little too slow to be in the ODI team?
I know he is an ok bowler who has some decent games and can bat a bit too. But with some of the guys on the sidelines I think we meed to look at the best XI to pick. Willey is bowling at around 80mph which wouldn't be an issue if he bowled as well as Vernon Philander, but he doesn't!
I know Curren and Ball are in the squad, but would anyone else give TRJ a run-out in the ODI? Or am I the only one who thinks that TRJ could offer some some extra class to the ODI team?

Problem is with Willey, he's only really a genuine threat to top batsmen when the ball is swinging, which means you're basically playing him as half a bowler (4-5 over spell with the new ball), once it stops swinging he's too slow to worry most top order players.

Left arm angle and early wickets are very valuable in ODIs these days to be fair, and Willey does a good job on those. Where his place is in danger is when the ball's not moving, so he's less effective early or not used later on in the innnings (edit:northern got there first), but to be fair he seems to be improving at the death.

Presumably he'll come under serious threat if/when Sam Curran gets on the international scene, otherwise I reckon his place in the squad is nailed on and spot in the XI pretty solid? Haven't seen enough of TRJ in odis yet but I'd take Willey over Ball I think.

He's too similar to Woakes though!
England like Willey because he's a left armer and is something different. It would be a very samey attack without him.

To be fair, Woakes looked sharper yesterday. He also looked back to his quicker pace too!!
Not sure what was wrong with him before (probably not 100% from his injury) but he is looking better again now
