Show us your...
« on: August 30, 2017, 03:03:40 PM »

...soon to be illegitimate bats in professional cricket. (ie. over 40mm edge and 60mm spine excluding face curvature)

These are all bats which have just over 40mm edges, or higher than 60mm spines excluding the face curvatures. I'm sure I have more in the collection, just couldn't quite find the will to measure each edge and spine height. :D

And here are bats which are monstrous, and not even borderline:

But I guess because of this restriction there will be less supply of big bats in future.

My opinion only but I think it will be silly of the manufacturers too stop or even reduce the making of big bats 95% of there Market is from the Paying Public that don't have these restrictions imposed on them they have always sold well so why stop again just my thoughts

Why?

They're going to become illegal for use in the professional game.
There's nothing to say bat makers have  to stop making them, or that clubbies can't carry on using them. I can't see the cricket police coming after anyone who makes a bat with 41mm edges and a 61mm spine.

All the while there's demand, there will be supply.

My understanding is GN initially said there would be no more big bats available after October, but as we see with the new Aus launches and the continuation of Halestorm and Pro Performance in the UK for 2018, they have gone back on this statement.

Matt has said to me many times he has no intention of ceasing the production of H4L Monster bats.

Is it possible willow merchants will use the 40mm law as an excuse to reduce cleft size?

I completely agree with you. Majority of their target market are club players who pay for their bats.

Interesting thought that one - would certainly mean more clefts being produced...

What I heard from Mueleman is that GN-AUS and SK will not produce any more big bats after the remaining clefts are used.

Nothing like time pressure to get a customer to drop hundreds of dollars on something ;)
