Always been the poor relation to GM and GN over the past 5 years or so, softs are awful compared to the other two, all models very similar in shape and on the couple of looks at our club even the stickers are still boring 2D jobs

Yes the bats tend to perform ok but well behind the big 2 in my opinion

I can see where your coming from and its a very good point but the way I see it is that they've got something for most players especially softs wise. Whilst I was at the office picking out my kit for 2017 I had a good look at all the ranges and they have thinner and thicker handles along with slightly different tweaks to the shape and sweet spot height, the Ghosts I saw had enormous edges and were very responsive. Looking at the softs from 2017 with the gloves there were the sausage finger (Ghost), U splits (Surge), flat splits (Kahuna) and V splits (Blaze) which I personally found great. I think at the moment people either love Kookaburra or hate them at the moment but I am really enjoying their kit at the moment

I think that their softs are ahead of GNs to be honest. Their legguards are certainly lighter than the blocks of concrete GM pass off as their top end pads. Their gloves are the best big brand offerings imo.

If I as a primarily a bowler as able to open the batting bat 3/4 of the innings and score 62 with a cracked handle scoring 9 boundaries it shows how good the bats are really

I agree it's not for everyone myself included but you can't really go wrong with the Ghost, I wore the Ghost Pro pads last season and they were very comfortable and lightweight

Quite agree any Softs that are White and minimalist always sell well , be good for these companies to try a different sticker style , but to fair its Working so no need to change it , havent seen what GM are up to, just seen Chases which are Based on White Stickers they look fantastic

The other major change is all the top end (Pro) gloves have a neoprene closure, as opposed to a towelled wrist band. This allows a much more snug fit, especially for those with thinner wrists.

Cheers Chris, will be interesting to see that! Always good to see a bit of genuine change/innovation from the big boys

Blaze gloves/colurway look mint.

Fever, small edge high spine bat, but they are doing the fever max which is there big edge oversize bat.

Kahuna top line pads have a moulding inner shins.

They are revealing the range gradually on Instagram as we speak, some interesting stuff! Not sure how I feel about the moulded shin bolster on the Kahuna pad, looks different though...

They should however be applauded for trying something new. The neoprene wrists amd reverse fastenings are a very interesting idea and the Kahuna pads will be completely marmite. Would love to know the science behind the designs

To be fair, this is Kookaburra - at least they're past the stage where for a few years the only difference between their bats actually was the colour of the stickers!

As for the science behind the designs, you might be giving their product designer a bit too much credit there... Nice to see different things being tried though, softs are ripe for reinvention in a traditionalist market.

I always thought Kook were quite good explaining each bat (on the website at least) with sweet spot position in mm, edge, spine, concaving, handle shape, bow, etc all explained.

They are, my pointnis that the launch has only shown the stickers, no profile shots whatsoever

I think they have got better with that in recent times.

However I remember when the Blade/Ice era - where they stated that different bats had different sweetspots/edge sizes etc - but in reality, all of the bats were exactly the same shape.
