For me Plunkett is the exact type of bowler they want to take. They went crazy a few tours back (different management) and took Tremlett and Rankin over a well in form Onions because of their height and aggression. This time though unlike then I believe Plunkett could be a genuine starter for England no matter where.

When they took tremlett in 2010 it was a great pick in he end... rankin was a copy of that selection but he didn't have the quality tremlett did

Are you sure senior? Seriously quick bowling with a pair of cotton gloves with some rubber dimples on? I faced Alex Tudor 2 season ago, not as quick as when he played for Surrey/England of course, but out of my 14 or whatever I got that day my gloves took a pounding. It was lifting off a length on a good track unlike the bounce I am normally used to.

After I was out I was glad of the protection from modern day gloves, they saved me from any broken digits..

Do you not think modern lightweight protection is better these days? It surely must be for us clubbies....

Although I played on Birmingham league tracks  and they were mainly decent  wouldnt Have face  anyone as quick as Tudor but had another think and can't recall any hand injuries  in fact  back then i was more concerned that i would get my helmet less  head knocked off yes  modern day gloves will  probably  give all the protection club players will ever need but  having tiny  hands I can't get along with all the padding and bulk it also doesn't help that I grip the bat as if I am holding an axe therefore   only have bottom of the range GN gloves the thinnest available ones which allow you  some feel the bat handle.
Did bat once  using  just cotton  inners but gave up that experiment after getting hit on the back of the hand.
Used to look at the gloves Alex Stuart  wore with all that strapping and wondered if he knew his hands were on the handle.

Jamie Porter has 70 div. 1 wickets at 17;  but will probably be considered too much of an 'English conditions' bowler.

Are you wearing them back to front?
The padding goes on the back of your hand, so shouldn't effect the feel of the bat handle?

There's that much padding in the front of some of these gloves it's hard to tell

He and Coad do perhaps fall into that category.  The problem is, you've got two such - Anderson and Woakes - in your main three, so need different options.
