Can't believe the BBC have got Ollie Pope and Amar Virdi as options in their Test Team Selector thing!

Leading wicket taker for spinners in Div 1 and 3rd highest English qualified run scorer in Div 1 ;)

Pope a more realistic pick than Westley, but yeah neither will be picked for England just yet

After four games. They've both played about six or seven first-class games total.

Trust me, Ollie Pope is not on the verge of an England call-up.

I can't believe Dom Bess isn't up for consideration.

Me either, save that Pakistan don't have many lefties for him to exploit.

Who said he was? Just coming up with a reason as to why he’s on the list.

It won't help his cause that he's only bowled nine overs so far this season.

I think it is probably more likely that Pope is called up into the white ball squads before the test squad. (not to say that will happen soon either). But both him and Virdi are certainly ones to watch for the future

Without sending the Yorkshire contingent into meltdown is anyone reading into Bairstow opening in the last match as a possible position for England?

Foakes has started the season well for Essex and has a healthy FC average, he is no mug with the bat.

Am I seeing something that is not there maybe?  :)

He's done it once...

...then again, he averages 50+ and has a 100% record overturning impossible situations. 😂

Realistically, no. He might move up to six  or, if Foakes keeps, five but no more.  As good as he is, his attitude is not a natural openers.

Yes, you are seeing Foakes playing for Essex rather than Surrey. ;)

Seriously though, I think if there is any significant change it is likely to involve Foakes. He is close to be being next in line as a batsman alone.

This might scare a few people on here. Apparently, The Times has suggested Vince is being considered as an opener.

This thread seems to have gone off on a tangent. The usual one. I admit I am partly to blame.  :o
