Derbyshire have signed Scotland seamer Safyaaan Sharif on a for t20 and one day cup

He's a good bowler and a useful bat, always a bit surprised he never got a full time county deal when younger.

Very good bowler! I'd like to see us give him more of a chance. When he winters down in OZ he get's stacks of wickets and is very thought of. Just a shame our overseas in Jeets is unbelievable.

Rafiq, it would appear, is seen as a white ball bowler.  Which is fair enough - he is decent when the batsmen have to make the game but struggles to take a wicket otherwise.  Carver, though, has an argument - personally I don't think is quite of the standard, but he has never really been given a proper change to prove or disprove that theory.  Reading between the lines, I wonder if this is a de facto trial, as the article refers to Poysden's contract being up and him not being happy playing second fiddle?
