Duckett and Chappell heading north up the M1 to Notts.
I fully understand their moves and wish them well. Surely their should be some compensation for the clubs who spend the time producing these players, but don't reap the rewards of their best playing years.

Tough for worcs who tried to keep Clarke but it's his career and he must want to break into the test side..a move to a test ground prob his thinking the best way. He's def a potential test player

Is there any compensation for th County he came up thru the age groups, if not should there be is a question that should be asked

I can see why the smaller counties would feel that they should be compensated for the loss of their best young players but, looking at the bigger picture, they are only able to keep going because of the money they receive from the ECB who in turn want the best players playing against each other in Divison 1 of the CC.  In some cases, it is questionable what value the ECB gets for its investment, particularly when a side uses some of the money to bring in journey man Kolpaks but looking at it overall, the CC isn't financially sustainable in its own right so the best young players leaving in search of opportunities to play international cricket is the price to pay for the competition being bank rolled by the ECB

Surely something has to be done for the smaller div 2 counties,  otherwise they will just stop bothering and just sign more kolpaks.

Notts is a crazy situation, if you include Nash from Sussex last season, in 2 years they have signed a whole new batting order from div 2 pretty much.

Very difficult, isn't it.  Its one of the things that makes Kent's success this year heartening - Sam Billings being one of teh few promising young players on England's radar to elect to stay with their club rather than chasing a pay rise.

This is the problem with promotion/relegation - people change club alot now in the Kent League, often for money (according to the rumour mill) - Minster on the Isle of Sheppey signed Fabian Cowdrey for 2018 as player coach and now it looks like Matt Coles is leaving my club to join them too. They have just come up from Div 3 of the Kent League and are obviously willing to spend ££ to see how far they can get - from what I gather their ground is horrible, so it's not the facilities attracting players.....

I'd rather see the county championship go back to just one league - get rid of promotion/relegation as one bad season can lead to you losing a few players a ruining the club. Kent have done well to keep Billings - however I'm sure the fact he's in the IPL and drinks carrying for England puts people off signing him as he misses a large chunk. But Kent have got a core of lads who have come through the age group system and have been given their chances. Matt Henry has been a revelation this season, along with the signing of Podmore.

It has been coming for a while - the two are stuck with one another.  Yorkshire don't want to lose Rashid because of his pull with the South Asian community, especially in Bradford, and Rashid too feels that leaving would damage his standing there.  Its noticeable that its a one year deal - with the amount of cricket England are playing next Summer, if he remains first choice he'll play maybe one Championship game and three T20s and if he doesn't, well, he can get out or go white ball only at the end of the year.
