Maybe gray nics will have him

They didn't drop warner after punching root
They didn't drop failkner after drink driving charhe
They haven't as of yet dropped Hales for apparently shoeing a man while he's down

And to be fair, grays reputation hasn't been dented either. People will buy the gear regardless if they want it

Was trying to think of any other brands that use FCS as their maker, unless he gets his bats made closer to home

Adidas or Slazenger spring to mind

Stokes was with GN previously too (before he went to Puma)

I bet his agent is negotiating with a few as we speak.

Such a box office player will not be without a sponsor for very long. The new contract will be kept quiet and have a clause like "if convicted or banned the contract is void" but be in no doubt he will have had plenty of calls.

Noone will touch him til he's back playing I'd expect. When he is, brands will be queuing out the door! It'll all blow over sooner or later, the only question is how long that takes.

He won't be without a Sponser long and guilty or not wont effect IPL etc.

Being found guilty and being in prison might scupper things a little bit

There is no way what so ever he will go to prison, even if found guilty.

It's highly unlikely, but I wouldn't say no way.

Likelihood is it'll end up with a fine and tons of community service if it actually gets that far. Quite frankly community service will be of more use than any fine anyway, always a need for more cricket coaches! :D

A lad I know got sent down for 18 months on the same charge as Stokes and it was his first offence too. If found guilty I think a few people will be surprised with the outcome.

Did the lad you know have the best lawyers/ legal representatives money can buy though?

He's not likely to plead 'not guilty' though, is he? And, if he did, it would make chances of a custodial sentence more likely. There is only so much his defence can do in light of such apparently compelling evidence, I feel.

Have a look at the sentencing guidelines - 18 months is in the highest category of sentence for ABH, once you're in that category (greater harm and higher culpability) then you're not going to avoid prison. I'm no lawyer but from what is publicly known Stokes falls under lower culpability (provocation + excessive self defence) and possibly also lesser harm depending on how badly the bloke was injured, which would put him in either Cat 2 or 3. Cat 2 ranges from community order up to 51 weeks inside, Cat 3 from a small fine up to a community order. Highly unlikely Stokes goes away even if found guilty of ABH.

Ouch. Revise the bit where I said 'highly unlikely'...
