It's interesting how times have changed when you hear Tuffers etc... talk about their warm up games being against the full state sides with players like Martin Love playing and scoring 200 against them in a warm up to try and get in the test team.

Yes exactly. Standard of opposition and pitches are the two things hampering away teams. Test cricket now we know if you going to win away from home odds are stacked against - and it seems to be getting even further towards the home team.

If you take England for example could they have two 'tests' in the UAE against the lions before a 4 or 5 match series in the sub continent?  And warm up matches actually in the touring Country as zero?

Interesting that Morkel is going to be dropped to make way for Steyn. Would’ve thought rabada would get dropped but could be the quota thing. Surely they’d want a tall hit the deck bowler like Morkel instead of Steyn or rabada

All depends on the pitches. If they provide flat batting tracks to make sure game goes on for 5 days guaranteed as Aus did when Ind toured them last, then draw is possible. If they provide seaming/pacy decks, Ind will lose 3-0.

Sorry to break it to you Indian fans, but your boys are gonna get slaughtered. South Africa will serve up green seamers, now that Steyn, Philander and Morkel are fully fit - throw in KG Rabada, and India's suspect batting line will get shredded.

During the recent India-SL series, Australian legend Matty Hayden suggested that KL Rahul and Murali Vijay opening would be India's only real hope to blunt South Africa. But India have already confirmed that Dhawan will open. His record away from Asia is poor. The likes of Pujara, Kohli and Rohit have poor records against the moving ball. Only Rahane has ability to deal with the moving ball but his form is terrible at the present.

South Africa have questions as well, the quotas some what handicap them, but aside from the seamers, their spinner looks really top class.

3-0 South Africa all day long.

Pretty interesting start, 3 quick wickets for Kumar then a flurry of shots form ABD.

Good old Virat dropping his v/c Rahane and most consistent opener Rahul, so his buddies Dhawan and Rohit can get a game...Ridiculous read somewhere that Rohit averages mid 20s away from India...

Bumrah wasting all the hard work done by Kumar. On a green seamer Bumrah is going at 5 per over. Why pick an ODI/T20 specialist in the longer format?

He has also troubled the batsmen...both these guys are counter attacking, hence the runs..

de Villiers has intimated the Indian seamers into pulling back their lengths. Pandya bowled an over and it's still swinging around. Get the South Africans on the front foot otherwise someone like de Villiers will carve it everywhere

If you're in India you can stream it on Cricinfo I think.

Otherwise it's Sky Sports in the UK.
