Just watched the highlights.
Looks like India have done very well to be where they are because they bowled awfully. AB chopped on a wide long hop. Pandya with a great bit of work to run out Amla and they got lucky with Philanders ridiculous run out! Could have been a very different day.
On another note a have to add I wonder how Kohli can be such an amazing cricketer and then act like such a knob on the pitch when he is captain.
Disagree, personally. I watched the entire day's play and I thought India bowled well other than Shami and Bumrah. Shami wasn't at the races at all. Bumrah's first spell was 5-x-7-0, but then released a lot of pressure before lunch with 5-0-35-0 with his next 5. Ishant and Pandya did what you have to do on that pitch, stayed patient, bowled cutters and bowled one side of the wicket.
Ashwin offered a LOT more control than I thought he would, even on a pitch that offered him purchase. He went around the wicket too much for my liking though and didn't bowl enough at Faf by giving Amla a too many 4 balls instead of singles.
Don't get me wrong, South Africa threw away wickets at the end with those 2 run outs, but India didn't let them get away even with Shami and Bumrah having poor days. I'm the first to criticise Kohli's captaincy (don't get me started on the wasted review in the first session), but he made a bold move delaying the new ball and then delaying it further even after he got the big breakthrough. Kept Ashwin to bowl at QdK with an 84 over ball and he got him first ball.
As 'csnew' said, gotta still back SA to win this but if India bowl them out for <350 and still have 5+ wickets in hand by the end of the day, this could be another fantastic test on a not-so-fantastic pitch. Will be interesting to see how they play Maharaj on this pitch. Looking forward to tomorrow.
