GN Kronus Halesorm v GN Pro Performance, which is better?
« on: January 31, 2018, 07:26:05 PM »

Anyone got either or both of the GN Kronus Halestorm or Pro Performance. Birthday is come and girlfriend said a bat could be an option. Which one is better according to the forum?

I always fancied an Aussie GN but the shipping/taxes always worried me plus the fact you can't view them before buying.

Edit- yes I am aware that this is a very subjective question and that they're different style of bats.

If 2-12 and above weight is good for you then get a GN select extreme. It will save you money and compared to Pro Performance it is a full SH size bat. I just got one from IJC and it is fantastic.

I’m not a fan of GNs UK grading, I’d go Aus every time

Get a Australian made bat you won’t regret it they are fantastic bats and found a lot of the retailers are more than happy to help with pictures etc

I don’t know about Kronus version but I have Pro Performance and Halestorm from last year and personally Pro Performance has a better pick up. Middle is also better compare to Halestorm. It is all about your preference, if you don’t mind an inch shorter blade then Pro Performance is better.

What weights are yours in Alan? And do you notice the size difference to a standard Short Handle?

The ones I saw were huge but rather heavy.

Mine are just over 2lb 6 ounce a little concaving and a mid balance point to me they don't feel heavy or light
Don't notice the size difference  also find that the shorter blade when you are not tall is an advantage when hitting through the line of the ball.

Do you have a link, I can't find it.

My 2 cents is that the balance on the Halestorms I tried was awful and that ruled them out straight away. Even a 2.9 that a forum legend pulled a few strings to get something special felt awful. It just seemed like a bat designed to get a big edge at the expense of everything else and sell from the specs above all else.

The Pro Performances on the other hand felt much better balanced and more of a sensible bat, while still being huge. I'm not fussed on a regular or shorter blade as I'm not the tallest so don't notice much difference other than the bat coming through a bit easier on the shorter blade as @Seniorplayer says. Uzi and a few other places had these in 2.9 so easier to get in lighter weights too
Hi Dan
What I did was was enter pro performance bat 2lb 6 ounce and Barrington Sports 2017  came up

My mistake, I've just never heard of any at 2lb 6oz so you must've got some pretty rare clefts (that is incredibly light for a SH bat regardless of it being a shorter blade!!).

Got any pics? Would love to have a look at them both :)

Have two Halestorms, the 2.14 one picks up much nicer for the weight than my 2.11. Could be a mixture of handle thickness etc. I suspect the Pro Performances do indeed feel nicer due to the slightly shorter length. Kind of makes me wish I didn't dismiss it straight away due to the shorter set up! (I am only 5ft8, so would have been fine)

I think I watched an IJC video where they mentioned the Kronus doesn't pick up nearly as well as the Halestorm did... Do you tend to use heavy bats? I'd recommend that you go and check out some examples in a cricket store if possible!
