Friendly 20/20 in the middle of nowhere somewhere in Devon. Opened the batting with my beautiful virgin h4l warbird monster. Imagine my horror to see them pull out a bright orange woodworm ball. It may as well have been painted granite. Running myself out 3rd ball was such a relief as I listened to everyone me else’s bats crack with every shot.
We lost. Who cares, the beast is unscathed

5 hour round trip for our first uni game of the season, wish we hadn't bothered.

Shipped 330 in a 45 over game, though they declared after 39. In a limited overs game... as they realised we were well out of our depth. Personally bowled 6 overs for about 1-50 which was somehow one of the better sets of figures, would honestly say 25 of them runs came as a result of poor fielding which summed us up in the field today.

Looked good early on as i came out at number 3 with the score 66-1 off 7 overs. Our only proper batsman was hitting it to all parts (including taking their opening bowler for 24 in an over) and looked very good until he pushed one to gully. I scored 5 before being given out LBW to a ball that hit the outside of my thigh pad. It was missing leg stump by about 1ft height wise, and their keeper & bowler walked up to me and told me how awful they thought the decision was. We were rolled for 120-odd.

Admittedly they're a couple of divisions too low and we're probably one above our standard, but we really didn't help ourselves with poor availability and abysmal bowling/fielding.

Our first game started well, wicket very first ball and reduced our oppo to 29-5 with their top batsman back in the pavilion.
3 dropped catches and one monster partnership and we’d let them put on 231!
In reply we got to 45-1 before a shocking collapse left us 86ao and pondering what might have been if we held our catches.

Mixed day personally, byeless behind the sticks but only 1 with the bat. Onwards and upwards!

A mixed but good first outing for me... We got put in, was quite glad to get things underway straight away opening the innings but didn't last long - tried to pull out of a shot after a bit of tennis ball bounce and just lobbed it gently to cover instead for 0. Not so cheerful spell of watching the rest of our top order enjoy themselves against some rubbish change bowling before a late collapse left us all out for 219. Fortunately bowling went better, I also opened up (village alert) with a pleasingly decent first spell of the season and got the early breakthrough, 7-2-21-1. Their skipper gave us a small fright batting through for 112 but noone stuck with him, bowled them out for 183.

We scored 204 off 100 balls in our LMS game last night against a team we'd lost to the previous season. They turned up with four players, and having won the toss, we made them field. Their bowlers evidently weren't there, so we had 6 (batting and helping with the fielding) of us on the field while they had just four of them.

We then proceeded to run along at 13+ runs an over for the first ten while their players and bowlers turned up. Our two openers left the field retired on 50 with strike rates around 200, and then in the second half of the innings, we slowed up. This was mainly due to better bowling on their part, to finish on 204 for 2 off 20 overs (100 balls).

They then came into bat and with an inspired opening spell from a leg spinner and myself bowling medium wibble-wobble, we restricted them to about five an over, much to their frustration, as the two openers could swing a bat very effectively. At the end of eight they were well down on the run rate, and in the next two overs we saw a double play, where the non-facing batsman failed to return to their crease and got run out after a catch. The run rate kept the pressure on and wickets fell at regular intervals until the opener came back in after having retired on 50.

With a good eye, he was able to play through the line of the faster bowlers and hit over the top, somewhat damaging their figures, and then was run out. Until the square leg umpire didn't give it (the guy was diving a mile out of his crease). Cue accusations of cheating, and the batsman hitting a further righteen runs off the last 5 balls he faced.

So overall a good win with a strong side!

Following last Saturday's sterling effort by the club with just 8 players not to lose playing away against one of the divisions better teams we are at home tomorrow  it's my first match this season
I've fully recovered  from injury  and illness and with a positive mindset raring to go.
Our opening bowler who was missing last week and is considered by many to be the best bowler in the division is also playing.

Our game is off too.
Very  annoying when everyone has the bug after a final over win last week.
(Some guy defended 10 in final over & took 4 wickets to win by 7 runs)
Opposition only had 6 players.

Rain stopped play today

Played against @hit4six who's side batted first

They were 140 ish for 4 off 32 when we came off for rain (I think) and we never got back on.

Oh well, there's always next week

Today I smashed the 5th ball of the game into mid-wicket's gut, he literally didn't move and it stuck in his mid-rift.

An hour later we were 80-2 off 15 it started raining and we never got back on.

Our game should have been rained off, our captain so desperate to play, writing on wall when we lost the toss. We were all rubbish, I hate cricket, the oppo captain no walked a massive edge to make it even better! Roll on next week 😂

It started raining today as soon as the umps called 'play' and didn't stop until it was called off

So 13 runs last week u till I was run out by my non running partner and a DNB today

When is ok to start worrying:

You are bang out of form
The ground is too wet to score any runs
Pitches are too slow
My new socks are not the right type
I'm going to slip down the order
My bat no longer feels right in the hands
The oppo might not turn up for the next game due to an outbreak of flu

Or.....just smash anything off straight next time and not think about it?

 :)
