I decided to go forward to it considering the wicket. It brushed my ankle on it's second bounce and hit the bottom of middle stump. It completely died on a patch of grass...
If it brushed your ankle on the second bounce, that should have been called no-ball.

We lost yesterday, 3 and half hours in the field wasn’t fun.
We managed to get full batting points in reply and I got my first Premier League 50 this season so not a complete waste of time

Second week in a row we've fielded first and gone for 240+ off 40 overs in 25+ degree heat (cue Aussies saying that's not hot  :D!!)

Running to all parts fetching balls from fields, hedges, bushes, picnics...

Then opening. Personally done very well, 47 and a difficult 31 yesterday, as team defending 245 put eight fielders on the boundary. Stuck at it, but both weeks just absolutely knackered and not having support from teammates due to lack of application, not ability. Kinda wonder why you do it!

Loving the hard, bouncy, fast tracks this summer is producing, but not loving chasing balls on outfields like glass!

Lost the toss, asked to field yesterday.

Conceded 373-5 off 45 overs. Their opener was dropped on 6 and went on to make 128.

In reply we limped to 209-9 from out 45.

On a personal note I took 2 wickets to take my league tally to 17 for the season, and hit 4 to get us an extra bonus point in the penultimate over.

Onwards and upwards, there's always next week

Really great win yesterday against 2nd in the league which means we now swop places with them - we were 4th.

Our skipper finally won a toss (although he wasn't calling!). And we batted. I got another start (35), I definitely left 100 out there as it was a road and our outfield at home is getting to the point of unplayable, it is just barron which are accentuating all the bumps double. And it is also getting to a stupid level of quick, I played 2 forward defensive shots for 4 yesterday it is getting silly.

Anyways.... we got 278 in our 40 overs and knocked over the oppo for 141 thanks to a great opening spell from the 2nds opener who was stepping up and then our spinner came on and cleaned up 5-19 as ours is starting to turn a lot as it is getting drier.

Shipped 300 a few times in the last two years but 373 a lot of leather chasing. Were you at the ground where the flip for one off your legs ends up in the chip shop? And in the 45 over format is absolutely anything down leg a wide?

Thankfully we don't play on the green or we could have shipped an even sillier number of runs!

Everything down leg is a wide (and there were 37 of those!)

T20 today

We bowled first, the opposition were 147 all out in the last over. I had the pleasure of bowling off spin to the top order in the power play (1-36 off 4) but did manage to remove one of the more dangerous batsmen LBW

We won with 11 balls to spare and 5 wickets in hand.

All in all a good weekend out in the sun with my mates.

Got asked (forced) to keep today (despite my protests) as the only competent bloke with the gloves (this was only the third time i've done it, god knows how my new Sunday team coped before i started!)

We shipped 206 in 45 overs, didn't have any chances behind the stumps, and conceded 9 byes which was a bit annoying given i only let 1 past last week. Most of which were towards the back end of the innings when i refused to dive for anything that was so wide it warranted it. Was about 30 degrees and i honestly couldn't have dived if i'd wanted to, my legs were jelly towards the end. Their opener batted without a helmet and tried to sweep our medium pacer, resulting in a cut to the eyebrow, still shuddering thinking about what could have happened had it been our quicker bowler.

We chased the 207 down inside 30 overs for 3 wickets, after our openers put on 160. Was down to bat 6 so had my pads on but didn't get in.

Becoming a bit disillusioned with cricket and have been for the past month or so to be completely honest, despite both my teams being on a winning run. Haven't really been given a go with the bat, and whenever i do, i get stitched up by the pitch ala yesterday, or our top order bat so well i'm not needed, only to be shunted down the order the next week. Shouldn't really be complaining given our winning runs, but ultimately i don't play cricket to watch other people bat or bowl, if it continues another few weeks i'll probably give up for the season i imagine.

Back skippering my Sunday side but lost a very good game. Restricted opposition to just 119 off 40 overs on what initially looked like a road but turned out to be quite tricky to bat on. In reply I thought we were crusing at 60-3 but the opposition spinner who came on first change wreaked havoc and we ended up 96 all out. For the second week running, I went in at No.11 (this time my own choice) and with our best batsman still at the other end, I was confident that we could knock these runs off. However, I think he let his concentration drift as the aforementioned spinner had just completed his 8 over spell and he was immediately out caught and bowled by the chap who replaced him.

Incidentally, the opposition opening bowler is 82 years old and bowled 8 overs straight through and finished with figures of 8 overs, 22 runs for 1 wicket. This was on the back of bowling 10 overs yesterday !!!!

Winning draw Saturday, batted first and got 255/7 from 52 declared. Didn't bat, got about 10 overs pad rash as I was next in. Bowled well, they clung on 9 down for 211 from 48. Couple of missed chances that cost us. Personally bowled well but figures don't show it, 8/2/50/1, had nobody off the square so any decent hit flew away. Wicket was caught at mid off.

Yesterday with frogs we bowled first, oppo set 192 to win. Bowled 3/0/16/0 at the death, drop off my bowling. I dropped one running round in the last over, but fielded well otherwise. Was down to bat 4 but didn't get in, one opener got 102 and the other 50* with a 4 to seal the win and get to 50. 32 overs padded up ready, but a good team performance and nice to enjoy watching team mates batting well.

Making my debut for Sussex Cougars (uni alumni) tomorrow at Brackley CC.

Scorecard from Ansty 2s Saturday was interesting...
