Not sure what the do is with Crofty. I know he's not a spectacular performer, but he's a great servant of the club and always seemed to have done well as skip. Otherwise it's yoofs or kolpac innit

Been at the Oval for the last few days for the D/N game. Pink Kookburra doesn't really do much and at this time of the year the lights only really take effect for what, an hour? All for D/N games, but I hope this years test shows they should stick with the the Duke

I am also there. Low scoring game if the ball isn't doing anything?

Largely down to some poor shot decisions and some embarrassing runouts from both Clarke and Harinath.

Naturally I'm delighted to have a player like Morkel, but it's clear from the off he should still be playing international cricket rather than tearing county sides apart.

Looks like Middx might pull something out of the bag after following on. Silly boys!

Ball has been hitting the pads and going past the outside edge loads.

I don't think you can possibly make a judgement about the performance of the ball unless you are out there bowling with it or facing it.

I'm prepared to shoot myself in the foot, but after bowling Notts out for 101 I think we're going to win Division 1

Is this guy playing for Warwickshire who scored 200 today, Bell I think his name is, is he a Kolpak or something, I mean he has almost scored as many runs as Rory Burns this summer...

That fella you talk about - Bell is it? He's good, but I don't reckon he's a Test Match top 3 batter whilst he's got a hole in his clapper! So it rather defeats the object............

Lots of attention/pressure on the England qualifying openers this morning then?

What an opportunity for them.

Who are the realistic candidates?

Burns
Mitchell
Gubbins (probably needs to stay fit for a season first)

maybe Vince, Denly or Bell as a bit of an outside punt.

Burns apparently struggling against Essex with a few streaky boundaries, though less so than Stoneman whom is out already.

Mitchell and Gubbins should definitely be worth a look.  Lots of talk around Denly, whom is batting now, as well and heard that they've been looking at Salt from Sussex as a potential ODI player for a while - could put his name in the hat with a decent performance today.

Interestingly Vince hasn't gone in at 3 after an early wicket at Worcester. Mitchell and Clarke in the field.
Raining at Edgbaston for Bell
Gubbins in the field at Bristol
And as people have said Burns and Denly currently not out at Chelmsford and Canterbury

Going to be interesting if someone gets a big score.

EDIT: Apparently James Taylor at Chelmsford watching Burns
