Is County cricket declining in quality? Jake Ball taking wickets for fun yet whenever he plays for England he's been absolute tosh.

Harsh, no?

He was bad in the one Ashes test, where his fitness was questionable at best. Otherwise, he's bowled better than his figures have suggested.

Isn't that same as it ever was, plenty of players have torn up trees in CC cricket and done SFA for England.

Groundhog day...

"Some loose Somerset seam bowling on a greenish pitch was heavily punished by James Vince, who raced to a typically stylish 44 from 43 balls, before edging an outswinger from Tom Abell"

My man GubGub in the runs again - wonder if he will get a look in with Engerland?

Watching the Surrey vs Yorkshire game at work, Elgar looks class and Olly Pope looks like he could become a great future prospect

Olly Pope is a great prospect. Best young batter in the Surrey team.
However a terrible day for Stoneman, Burns, Borthwick and Foakes all looking to impress the England captain.

Pope is good, seriously good. For 20 years old he doesn't look phased at any point whatsoever.

Currently 87no with a ton already this year and against a decent Yorkshire attack.

Yep all the current England crop have had terrible county games so far so maybe the outside chance of a new face or two come the Pakistan series

100 for Pope. On a pitch that is offering something to the bowlers.

Haseeb hameed....out for nothing again current average about 3, highly rated by many, including myself  :)

Is there a lesson that this game teaches you you are never as good as you think you are(Sanga)

So note to the forum and yours truly, do not get too down on low scores and a bad trot keeping working at it, if it can happen to the pros it can and will happen to us clubbies.
