Probably also reasonable to say Roy's first class figures would be better if he'd played more first class cricket over the past two or three seasons. Seems unlikely he'd tour Sri Lanka but you'd think a spell of first class form would see him in genuine contention quite quickly. Judging by the scorecard it looks like Somerset have avoided pitch scrutiny by preparing a proper road so he may have missed out only getting a fifty!

Apparently Ed Smith is watching from the stands. I would not be slightly surprised to see him called up.
More likely Mr Smith is looking at Burns, Stoneman, Pope, Foakes and Verdi and watching Roy is just a bonus.

More runs for some chaps called Trott and Bell today too. They look almost international class at times.

Isn't that Trott fella retiring at the end of the season?

Maybe he could even be there watching some players not from Surrey! ;)

Well, there are seven with at least an outside chance in the Surrey side, and Leach, two Overtons, Hildreth etc for Zummerzet

Plenty on show for sure! From an England point of view a shame it's more classic Taunton than recent Ciderabad, with the players involved a game on a proper bunsen would have been very useful for Mr Smith!

Absolutely, it would be far better if there was reverse swing, absolute bunsen and four + spinners playing from an England perspective.
Given there is not much riding on this game and multiple potential tourists Somerset should have been given dispensation to get the scarifyer out.

It's kind of odd that they haven't given the usual lack of respect the ECB have for the integrity of the Championship.

Looks like Finch is gonna open for Aus. Let’s get Roy in as Australia know their cricket and how to win (and are prepared to do so at all costs)

In all seriousness my lineup would be:

Burns
Roy
Ali
Root
Buttler
Stokes
Bairstow
Curran
Broad/quickee
Leech
Anderson

I saw this on Twitter the other day and found it interesting.

It lists the counties in order of win percentage this season across all formats, RL Cup, Blast and CC. Results up until this round of CC. A few very big counties near the bottom.
