I know that you can grip it firmer with bare hands, but I wear gloves when using the drawknife. Not ideal but I'd rather that than cut myself.

Bat looks good, bit more off that toe and it will pickup like a beaut I'm sure. Post pics of the changes if you make any please.

Would be good to see some more photos of your progress - i was out in the garage last night attacking one of my bats with one of Norbs travishers - damn good bits of kit if you can get hold of them!

I've seen them for �70, how much did you pay if you don't mind me asking? I'm thinking of adding one of these, or something similar to a gutter plane.

Craig gave me a good price of one from here. I think it comes to around �40 including VAT+Postage...

It's not mine -i'm currently renting it off Norb, i think he charges a litre of cider per bat - but like you, i will be wanting to buy one as well as theyr'e so useful (im using a 5 which seems to give some really deep concaving)

I spoke to those guys (G&M) the other week funnily enough as I was looking for another travisher and they didn't have any in stock, but may be worth checking next week.

I dont use either as you know but when I was both really..... keep them for a while, I'm sure we can eventually come to a deal via willow or something
