just for some balance on Woakes Al, BBC text said Woakes bowled beautifully and was unlucky.

I don't think we had our best day with the ball but it's no good us blaming them when we cant chase.

We bat at 100 miles an hour and nothing in between

we have to find a balance.  Williamson a brilliant example of this and I havnt seen the Indians going nuts, they seem to play quite carefully and it looks under control

Root is the only guy in the line up who can be expected to anchor an innings. Get Root early and that shakes up the entire balance.

I believe yesterday' I  watched Woakes on an helpful  pitch waste the new ball by bowling to short

Is this the same Woakes who everyone else saw as pick of the bowlers? ???

Could England play Dawson as well as Ali  and Rashid?

I think Aaron Finch was batting against a different 'Woakesy' then...

Player of the Match is Aaron Finch. "I didn't play too badly, it's nice to get a hundred in a win. To get sent in on a wicket that was seaming around ... Woakesy bowled a hell of a spell. There's teams that you have a bit more confidence when you walk out and play. It was nipping around and seaming but we played well to rein it in, and cash in on width."

He isn't the best player in the world, but I think you should probably talk someone about your grudge you hold against him. Stats for yesterday's game alone suggest he was the pick of the bowlers.

Thank god for that, with our history of playing spin against India this old track would have been curtains for us lol

Doesn’t it turn regardless where it’s a new or used pitch in Birmingham? Seen various county matches on any surface where Patel has appeared to be Murali MKII

Looking decidedly dicey now for England. Might have to beat India and New Zealand to go through :(

With Pakistan, you never know one wicket is all it would take for NZ to turn the game around.
