well said. its impossible to predict what would of happened had it been 5 and not 6 runs.....

Taylor got a rough one, Guptill was clearly out yet reviewed it, therefore burning the review that would of saved him(it didn't look out in real time)

I don't think it is … the second mention of the 'act' is merely referencing the first …. "from an overthrow or from the wilful act of a fielder". It's clear that it is the throw or the act of the fielder that matters.

Right...I disagree and others do too, however...its not really a relevant point, these things happen in sport, tries get disallowed in rugby, people get given out when they are not in cricket, goals get disallowed in football, dubious penalties get given. Ultimately the decision that 2 very well qualified umpires (who, I hasten to add, understand the laws better than 99.9% of people that play and watch cricket) made was that it was 6, even if that was the wrong decision, 4 from 2 is still very doable and the result still stands.

I don't actually disagree with you. It's a point worthy of discussion though.

One run too many and...

Pakistan beat both finalists in the group stages. As did Australia - who were eliminated with an identical overall record to England's, having also 'drawn' 1-1 with them head to head.

India lost least games. And had the best win/ loss ratio.

So England are perhaps not that convincing World Champions?

:)  Kholi wants the format changed I have read similar to the IPL. Not knockout but another chance to win it if you finish top of the group, so...two bites of the cherry.

good and brave losers we(England) have been in the past. Anyone who has followed England knows then tears(the 90's were particularly bad) so.....although NZ were brilliant and did not deserve to be losers we came out on top by the skin of our teeth]not much is going to stop the joy for he fans. Of which I am one

respect for NZ, they were the best led and hardest to beat in the tournament.

If I was an NZ fan I'd be proud of the team for sure.

Very well put! England fans deserve to enjoy this moment and nothing can take away from their victory! Luck is an integral part of the game. Its one of the things that makes it exciting to watch. As they say, 'It was written in the stars that England would lift the World Cup in 2019"

Cant believe Dharmasena was allowed to officiate in the final! He is not qualified to officiate in village cricket. Too many mistakes. IMO, ICC should count the wrong decisions taken by each umpire and the ones with the least mistakes should get to officiate. Its poor to put someone so incompetent incharge of such a big match!
can't just put blame on Dharmasena alone. he had a lengthy discussion with erasmus about it  and the third umpire was equally guilty too. having said that , the luck GOD was all over england yesterday

New Zealand got a lucky break with bad weather and their Semi was extended to the next day otherwise they were on the ropes in that game. England got their share of luck during the final. It happens. With all that, I think the best team of the tournament won!

Personally, I enjoyed this round robin format, matches were so exciting.

England were unreal.

Sorry though, last win of the tournament. NZ to hold it aloft on Sunday. We have played terribly these last few weeks and still made the final. Now all our players will fire...I can dream.

I was right. England didn't win another game.
It was devastating to lose but what a day. I was in London for the final and spent the entire day on the edge of my seat surrounded by Brits cheering and singing. The overthrows could have meant any number of other outcomes so who's to know. England deserve it, enjoy the spoils. What a fantastic advertisement for Cricket.

Best World Cup ever.

But now they need to dump this stupid boundary rule for future tournaments.

Pressure got better of New Zealand! There's no need trying running out Stokes, wrong fielder on the boundary! Result:6!
Never seen a fielder losing the sight of the ball played in the sun, while played totally on the ground! Cost: 1 run!
Look at the last ball run out, all the pressure of the world in Buttler, took the throw a couple of meters in front of the stumps, took the ball cleanly and result : run out, won the game and CWC 2019!
Luck Favours the Brave! And everyone wants for best good luck

There’s no one to blame for the result, easy to sit back afterwards and criticise

Great day for cricket yesterday, thrilling game that had everyone on the edge of their seat! Hopefully the free to air coverage inspired a lot more people to take up the game we all love. Regardless of who won
