The ECB has changed the qualification rules... Jofra Archer is available to play for England as of Jan 1st!

I'll just leave this here... https://twitter.com/Vitu_E/status/852844358248386561?s=19

Good - a player of his calibre should be playing international cricket. I wonder who will make room for him though, Broad?

I suspect he will get a run in the odi side first.
Also I suspect Anderson will retire after the ashes.

Would love to Jofra debut against the Windies, show them what they let slip through their fingers

Morgan already played down selection for him for next year, I am sure he will stick to his word; unfair on the collective that have got us into this position

We are at the point at the moment where it is probably easier to get in the test team than it is either of the limited overs sides.  He has the potential to be an important match winner across the formats for England

Is he available as of 1st January?

I've just seen on Twitter (so it must be true...) that he's not done 210 days of year 3 living in England, and due to commitments to play overseas he may not be eligible until roughly March/April time meaning he'd miss the Windies tour

Seen the same news, but thought he'd been in the UK since 2015 (ie. 4 years)? Either way, you'd assume that given a nod from Ed Smith he'll be pieing off the t20 gigs pretty quickly if it means a potential debut in the Windies.

are we even sure he'll be picked? this seems to be a move to bring the guidelines into line with the ICC

personally i think he should be for white ball cricket, he has that x factor and bats bowls and fields.

it would have to be in the squad for wood but wood doesn't play every game so is plunkett in danger of not playing?

I think he'd walk into even the ODI team - they have nine nailed on certs in YJB, Roy, Joe, Morgs, Jos, Stokes, Rashid, Woakes and probably Moeen then need two steamers from the Currans, Willey, Plunkett, Wood, Stone and now Archer

Never mind white ball, he does average 23 with the ball and 31 with the bat in first class cricket...

fair enough wasn't sure of his stats,

my point on the selection was the media was focusing on Jofra but there are others included in this change also

I'd say he has a place in the squads as a minimum!
