GM Noir Signature
« on: February 12, 2019, 06:41:27 PM »

Hi all, Iv managed to get a few nets in over the last few weeks and thought I would do a few reviews of my bats having now used them and I’ll start with this GM Noir.

So this was from Six Sixes and I always regretted selling my GM Chrome which was my match bat in the 2017 season so jumped over this model when released.
So this is the G2 Signature and as you can see has a clean blemish free blade with fairly straight and even grains with a mid/low middle and I think the biggest edges in the GM range these are 38mm edges.

So I took straight into the nets and have only used against bola balls Iv probably had about 90mins use with this and from the start performance was very good. The middle is long and for a mid/low profile extends a long way up the blade. The bat is 2.10 plus change and pick up wise it certainly feels it’s weight even with the thick handle and thick terrain grip. I wouldn’t say it’s bottom heavy just has a solid feel in the hands if that makes sense.
Personally I feel this bat has real punch when you find the middle as all the wood is in the middle with wood taken from the toe and shoulders to give an extended swell, a bit like a L&W ultra shape but not quite as pronounced.
Edges are well rounded and bat comes with what are in my opinion the best toe guards in the industry so really is all set to be used.
Pressing wise GM are certainly much improved from say 3/4 years ago but they still require some soft ball net time in my opinion espically if like me you face the new ball each week, they don’t have a soft feel from the off but not hard either it’s kind of an inbetween from my view. Saying that anything out the middle is crunched and I’m very impressed with the power generated by the buldge in the sweep spot.

Only disappointing aspect was the Noir grip it ripped in about the 1st 5 mins on use and another I bought didn’t last much longer and I have never had this issue on any other bat so have replaced with last years slightly thinner in my mind terrain grip. Anyway enough of my waffle here are a few pics

Looks a nice bat, it's a mid Low Profile, 2.10lb, you will feel the weight, think pressing is where it all matters.

Is it a standard length blade or a bit shorter?

The noir standard sh length blade and handle along with the Haze and Zelos, Mythos, Neon and Diamond are shorter blade longer handle options

Define "big hitting bats"

Sir Garfield Sobers used what would be deemed a toothpick by anyone today, I'll just leave this here

Looks like a cracking bat!

Since using this and a chrome did you notice any difference between the feeling of the bats or is it pretty much the same?

Pretty much the same. As I mentioned they are “ready to use” as it where but I have found that netting with a GM over the winter indoors against bola balls for maybe between 5-7 sessions gets them perfect for the start of our winter indoor nets against old league balls and then once the season starts it’s fully match ready. I think 2017 was when there pressing changed as the Chrome was a stunning bat performance wise after following this process and the Neon I used last season again was superb performance wise. I still have the Neon and along with this Noir I will have 2 cracking match sticks there alone before I even get into my GN bats I’m
Considering for this season

Just a little further update on this. Now been used in 4 weeks worth of nets against good quality old sat & sun match balls. We don’t allow use of our own “new nut” at our nets. Approx 2hrs worth of ball action and all I can say is wow. I thought my Neon fr
Last season was good this is an amazing bat. Superb power and and very long profile but easily already in the top 3 of my best ever bats.

Pick up wise for a mid/low middle it’s so well balanced and with the grip now a single chevron I have the perfect feel in the hands as the original terrain grips with the thick handles that GM are known for was a tad to big for me.
Easily at the moment my match bat for 2019 which is a surprise as was pretty sure I would use the Neon again and met with this all year in prep for next year as has been my way to ensure any bat I take to the middle is  fully ready.

Will move onto my GN kit for the next 4 weeks sessions so will share a review of my Powerspot and another rather special GN I have picked up.

^ That is good to know. I have never owned a GM but I am warming up to the brand. Their grading is consistent and quality high for the price. Thanks for sharing this!

@InternalTraining they have come in leaps and bounds in the last 3/4 years in my opinion and I do believe at the moment the signature is the best value for money in terms of looks vs performance availble on the market. Add in they are a U.K. made bat and your onto a winner. Been a big GM fan for the last 2 coming into my 3rd season
