Retailers are buying SS bats pro and non-pro at wholesale prices. Retailers charge their own price much higher. Buying SS pro from SS costs usd 450+ shipping direct while well known retailers are charging now from usd 600 to 900+ shipping. It is true what cricketstoreonline said that all pro bats are in a bin which is plain and names on the toe and left behind. Then they are stickered up for retailers. The retailers says bats were handpicked. Its all BS that they are handpicked from the bin. I believe all the bats in that bin are top grade pinging bats. But still customer's around the world pay usd 600+ from a retailer rather than SS. For example, I would prefer to buy a Newbury bat from theIl UK rather than Dubai where I live. They say its all handpicked when they have not even travelled to the UK lol. Just my opinion.
I believe the Pro cost has gone up from 450 now, specially the new range which retails in India for INR 60000 ( USD 850 Approx)
You are quoting the price from last year for a Gladiator or Reserve, which also has seen a significant jump in retail pricing to INR 42000(600 USD)
Again these are retail prices on the sticker, generally you do get a 20% break for just walking in any store in India.
Actually if you are in the US , better of buying locally as there wont be a much bigger difference now with the prices after adding shipping plus the fact you can feel the bat before buying if you have that option or exchanging if you dont like the one sent to you.
