‘Players Stock’
« on: February 19, 2019, 08:32:08 AM »

The SS/Ton Players Stock is starting to get ridiculous now!

Seems like there is 10-20 with the sharpie and no edge stamps sent to every reseller all with a different name on the bottom and a hefty price tag to match.

Can’t believe people are falling for it still! Crazy when you look at just how many there are now!!

If there's demand people will pay.
Genius by SS/the retailers involved  ;)

They all appear to be the same generic SS shape for the most part as well!

Retailers are buying SS bats pro and non-pro at wholesale prices. Retailers charge their own price much higher. Buying SS pro from SS costs usd 450+ shipping direct while well known retailers are charging now from usd 600 to 900+ shipping. It is true what cricketstoreonline said that all pro bats are in a bin which is plain and names on the toe and left behind. Then they are stickered up for retailers. The retailers says bats were handpicked. Its all BS that they are handpicked from the bin. I believe all the bats in that bin are top grade pinging bats. But still customer's around the world pay usd 600+ from a retailer rather than SS. For example, I would prefer to buy a Newbury bat from theIl UK rather than Dubai where I live. They say its all handpicked when they have not even travelled to the UK lol. Just my opinion.

Must be quite a bin this which everybody has access to. Wonder if there are any bats left for the pros after all these retailers are done.

As long as the quality is as expected of a pro bat, does it matter? They do have a lot of pros all over the world using their bats (not just their stickers). Its not like they are passing G2 willow with sharpies. People who can afford it, will go for it. Its not too different to the 'player edition' bats sold by makers with ridiculous pricing!

True. If one can afford it, then why not. No point of complaining about it.

Haha true. Couple of retailers say the same thing that there is a bin of bats which are probably left overs for other retailers.

Aren't most Newbery bats now made in India? The standard has certainly dropped from 5+ years ago

Id be interested to know how many bats SS produce a year both for themselves and the brands they supply. Comfortably the most in the world I would guess

Apart from TK!
If every bat that is claimed to be TK made actually is, he accounts for approximately 110% of the world supply!  ;)

think SS/Ton have missed a trick - should have a 'Signature Sharpie Players Special Edition' bat range - it would come with a removal toe guard and the players name under it is a surprise! - like an cricket bat version of an advent calendar!!!

Based on an article i read about two years ago, SS was making 750 bats a day where as SG was beating them at 1000 a day. The Kook contract helped SG massively in becoming the biggest in the world in terms of volume.

I believe the Pro cost has gone up from 450 now, specially the new range which retails in India for INR 60000 ( USD 850 Approx)
You are quoting the price from last year for a Gladiator or Reserve, which also has seen a significant jump in retail pricing to INR 42000(600 USD)
Again these are retail prices on the sticker, generally you do get a 20% break for just walking in any store in India.
Actually if you are in the US , better of buying locally as there wont be a much bigger difference now with the prices after adding shipping plus the fact you can feel the bat before buying if you have that option or exchanging if you dont like the one sent to you.

With these new outrageously prices, I am glad I am well stocked for next twenty years lol. As long as there are buyers, they will continue to raise their prices. I personally have boycotted anything over $400. I rather buy used bats for $100-150 if needed than to buy $500+ bats.
