Not directed at anyone in particular this, but why is it when people use bowling machines they feed each other friendly half vollies on off stump? I think that is a complete waste of time.  When I do bowling machine sessions I work on short bowling, spin technique, back foot drives - shots that I have to use in a game where I am weaker.

The point of a bowling machine session is to work on weaknesses not pat back gentle friendly stuff.

I agree with your general point, though it can also be usefull as a confidence booster if your feeling out of form or just haven't had a hit in a while.

I may be off ther mark but people are also more likely to post videos of themselves where they look good.

You have watched me my mate is sadistic swing both ways plus different lengths every ball but I have the theory practice hard play easy does not always work but helps

Roco- that also defeats the object!! the idea is to face maybe ten balls for each shot you are trying to work on and do that over two or three bowling machine sessions so you are grooved and ready to go.

Facing 80mph lifting snorters isn't great practice too!!

That's not for me I prefer to be kept on my toes as if I know what ball is coming I set myself for it as you rarely get two balls in the same place in a row so helps me with slot selection although my mate does go over board at times with balls Anderson would be proud of on an over cast day

what speed is everyone using as we are getting one & only ever used one once & it had to be slowed right down to make a few adjustments to my technique

70 plus off 18 yards for most things and 75+ for the short stuff, otherwise the ball tennis balls too much

I use 75 mostly but 80 to push it but not very often but rarely use it as prefer the sidearm I find it more realistic and better practice just never been a huge fan of bowling machines But that's just me

bowling machines are good for shot grooving and getting used to speed if you play against any

not a fan of bowling machines, just find the feeding to mess me up.

side-arm is great though. but nothing can match someone actually running in, wonder what the pro batter is like to face?

Those were at 75-78mph with various degrees of swing. I do have my video of the back foot drives I was practising but for some reason photo bucket will not let me upload that video, the same goes for the 2 spin nets I had at the end. I've played with some very good players over the last few years and the common theme with them is to groove 2 or 3 of your best shots and use them primarily, the other shots will follow when your in. I like the cover drive so I practise it a lot, the same with the flick through mid-wicket and the pull.
