Aero P1 Leg Guards. Most under appreciated pads and the choice of renegades and rebels all over the world.

Good protection, flat front or canes as long as they wrap around well. As little bulk to the knee roll as poss, short top hat, comfort.

The ayrtek ones I’ve got are the best ones I’ve used so far. I’m not as qualified as reds in this field but I’ve had a good few sets

The only things I look for in a pad are that the are traditional, wrap round the leg well, don't have enormous straps, and the protection is good.

That said however, there is one thing that I look for as an added bonus that me perfect pad would have, and that is no mesh on the inner but instead the material that the M and H CK22 pads had, was like a lycra style material that wicked sweat really well.

Cane fronted with traditional look, leather instep and a knee locator protector are the 3 things I look for in a top end pad. Minimal branding. My OLE GM pads are going to take some beating when the time comes to replace them, the sample Surridge ones I have are superb for the price just missing a knee locator

This is a deal breaker for me on pads.  I find the length of the straps on GN pads to be ideal as is the length on the unbranded pads from OLS but many seem to have a ridiculous amount of excess material

Rounded foam or cane fronted, for the classic look.
Minimal branding to the front, for the 'pro look'
Leather or suede instep, for durability
Internal padding needs to be three piece bolster, in memory foam and dark, to avoid sweat stains
Decent knee support
Towelled straps - cannot stand the mesh SS style straps that so many brands go for. Very irritating when netting in shorts.
Neutral colour schemes - black, grey or silver accent colours

Plain white - no accent colours at all on the outward areas, no embossing, ideally no logo and if there is a logo, as discrete as possible and NOT on the front of the instep. Cane-fronted or rounded foam. I prefer there to be small men’s size as well as men’s; even though I am 5’11” I prefer a snug pad. I also prefer two-strap designs. Leather not suede instep. Towelling or soft straps so the Velcro can’t be felt when netting in shorts. Well-shaped top hat that comes back in a little but not as aggressively as keeping pads. On the inner padding - no shiny surfaces, all cloth/towelling or whatever, again for when netting in shorts.

Love the look  of almost any mid-top end Gray Nicolls pads. Like the padded straps and prefer as light as possible. Love the edges of the knee section of the Gray nics which have the triangular section. Look perfect. Also, the straps of GN pads are just right length, not too big unlike almost every other brand. Lastly, like the lack of mesh and instead having PU/leather type materials all throughout the insides.

Does anyone like the padded flappy bits on the inside of a buckle?

Fair to say there's no clear and obvious preference @Surridge Sports 😬

My legends have them, haven’t really figured out if they actually do anything or not, but might just be because I have fairly skinny legs.

My BB moderns have these and I really like them. The metal buckles are lovely too.
