Unsure of benefits but GM bats go through 2 different presses..
I think the Keeley's have two different types of presses (same as GM).

Wasn't it the Kudos 2 that had this secret pressing method?
I'm sure I remember something like that (or we imagined the same thing!)

As there's a differencei I think it would be more realistic to  say lighter pressing rather than softer.

I don't, cause essentially you are going for under pressed, over pressed, or just right. Bloody stupid option to have on a bat really.
