Does anybody else think England do not use their variations sparingly enough? For example Woakes just bowled two slower balls in one over - it's a bit of a ODI attitude to me. In Anderson's book he talks about variation needing to be a complete surprise to be effective. You need to bowl so many balls in the same place that the batsman get's into a rhythm of playing it, and then the variation forces the false shot, bowling variation constantly and consistently changing length and line isn't helping anybody.
