Thought I would start this off as it will be here before you know it.

Also this popped up on Twitter. Great signing for the Yorkies....

Bad news for Bess (or a good mentor?)

Bess plays for Somerset Brucie! Only went to Yorks on loan last year, guessing he won't be doing that again with them signing Ashwin and Maharaj. Safe to say it's the end of red ball Rashid too.

I wish the ECB would respect the County Championship like the overseas boards do, going through the lists now for next year and it's loaded with Aussies; Lyon, Bancroft, Siddle, Neser, Handscomb, Labuschagne, Wade, Head.

Think we'll do alright next year, Neser in our bowling attack and getting Hashim (admittedly as a kolpak) is a good move.

Hard to tell - I mean, some of the pitches that teams - Somerset, Essex, I'm looking at you - prepared last year, you might want three spinners.

Why is the fact that a lot of counties have Aussies as their overseas disrespectful to the chsmpionship?

What's disrespectful is the fixtures being pushed to either end of the season and Div 1 teams not getting to play each other twice. I also don't like the way the loan system and short term signings are being used.

This has just come out, and could get very messy I think.

'PCA backs overseas player increase'
http://www.skysports.com/share/11926994

Kolpak: PCA would back two overseas players per county post-Brexit - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/51387075

What I don't get is the following, it says that.... "Following Brexit, the England and Wales Cricket Board has advised counties that Kolpak registrations will be terminated at the end of the 2020 season."

Surely that makes Amla and Philanders 2yr deals a bit crazy??

Unless they're on 2 year deals with the understanding that the 2nd year being registered as overseas players.

Does that also solve South africas selection issues? Lots of players would become available again?

Abott, Olivier, russow, viljoen, harmer to name a few

Not really, remember the majority of them went Kolpak at least partly because they weren't cutting it at international level. Abbott would be the only absolute definite pick I'd say, Harmer a probable.

Olivier had just taken a stack of wickets for SA when he went down the Kolpak route and looked set to establish himself in their Test side so I think you might be misremembering in his case.

I was going to say Olivier would walk straight back into that side

Abbott and Olivier are alot more threatening than Paterson & Hendricks. Viljoen certainly a yard quicker. Kleinveldt was in consideration when he left the country. The lad that Glamorgan signed a few years ago De Lange has pace and would be getting games now. Quite a talent drain!

SA looked toothless at times in the Test series on quite helpful pitches.

Harmer might do a slightly better job than Maharaj with the ball but by the sounds of it wants to play for England now!
