Just hearing now that the Aus vs NZ ODI series will go ahead, but will be played in empty stadiums with no public allowed in.
The Aus women's tour of South Africa has been suspended, as they were due to leave this weekend.
It will be interesting to see how this all plays out, with so many sporting events being affected.

The real interesting factor here is how all these sporting bodies manage the relationships with broadcasters who have paid huge sums of money for the content. I�d expect as many will go ahead behind closed doors as possible for that reason, but the situation with the premier league for example with coaches and players being affected will be even more interesting. Only thing I can see happening is sliding the schedule back to accommodate broadcast contracts but how far can we do that? Who knows!

I think more cricket fixtures will go ahead purely because of the seasonal constraints

Football/rugger etc. Can take place any time of the year. If push comes to shove you can play the end of the PL/CL over the summer months but you cant play cricket in the English winter.

I'd imagine with the huge sums of money being thrown around in cricket they'll play behind closed door or they'd just have to cancel everything and therefore noone gets paid.

Today, they also made the same announcement for remaining matches of PSL. No crowd will be admitted to watch the games.

I�m more concerned about how it could effect my season. If games are cancelled I can see more people leaving cricket for good and if there is widespread illness I can see many teams cancelling fixtures. We only have around 13 players so any sick red and we�re struggling. This is the same with many small village clubs. It could have similar ramifications as the foot and mouth outbreak.

A lot happening in the past 12 hours then

Aus v NZ match completed with no crowd.
Players having to search for balls after sixes hit into the stands,
Batsmen unaware when they reach a 50,
No high fives during, or handshakes after the match -

This new way of playing cricket may take some getting used to.....

It is very concerning, particularly at junior level where a season with little cricket can drive away players who never come back. Financially a lot of clubs will struggle

I assume you're an expert on the subject?

Considering the amount of older players, supporters and members of village clubs across the country I don't see it being safe to play during May/June based on current infection rates. Hopefully that is wrong but it is spreading and for those 60+ it is very dangerous.

I assume you didn't mean to be condescending?

I never claimed to be an expert on anything of the sort.

I also never passed comment on whether it was safe or not to play and whether or not it was the right move to cancel.

I just said it was disappointing how much misinformation is being spread such as 'if we were all vegan this wouldn't have happened' or 'we all need to snort vitamin C' to name just a couple.

It doesn't take a genius to work out that neither of the above statements are true or valid. But then again, perhaps you are one of the people that are stockpiling toilet roll that believes statements like the aforementioned.
