I don’t believe it’s sensible or safe to play but... the ECB guidance is slow and awful. Netting updates should have been released within hours of any knowledge of decisions etc. Even a guide to outline dates would please those who want to play games.

If they had a plan that said ‘if allowed to start on x we will do y’.. repeat for various scenarios .

Still.. keeper up, umpires.. how do you affect run outs (excluding direct hits), touching he ball ... all massive issues still with the virus around

Yes exactly this! What I have the biggest issue with is their lack of urgency to communicate anything. That other sports that aren't currently in season are just far far more on the ball (excuse the pun).

Whether you agree with playing at the moment or not, doesn't matter because they aren't communicating anything about it.

Sooner or later you will get clubs/players taking matters into there own hands because either they don't know what's happening or they are simply fed up with what's happening.

That surely has to be more dangerous!

What does everyone make of the latest release from the ECB? Seems more informative and a road map laid out albeit without dates on next stages yet.

i think, unfortunately, It means we are almost at the point where a league season is impossible. The majority of people I have spoken to have accepted it might be friendlies.

wish I could be more positive, but unless bars and restaurants are open they cannot prove what affect a larger reduction in restrictions will have

I had felt like the Hants cricket league jumped the gun when they announced that the season is cancelled, but looking at the pace at which things are progressing, now I think they did the right thing to set the right expectation. There wont be any league cricket this yr.

I'm hearing from our club they the league are very keen to get things moving and for some form of cricke to be played. No promotion or relegation if we play any meaningful matches, but a league winner if we can play enough games (Not in the ECB Prem though in which our 1sts play).

The pace at which things are opening up, I can see some cricket being played. In what form and whether it's worth it is another debate.

rumors circulating that the ecb will announce no recreational league cricket for 2020, hopefully we can still get some friendlies on but the positivity is starting to fade

Not sure if it’s ECB lead, or just from our League but this weekend just gone they’ve sent out a communication saying there will be no competitive senior league or cup cricket this season.

Think they’re still looking at juniors and also some inter club events etc if possible?

I have to say that I cannot understand one bit how hairdressers and beauticians can be preparing to open on 4 July seeing customers indoors but it isn't safe to play recreational cricket. School children are now sat in classrooms together but can't play cricket outdoors. It is the inconsistency in the easing of the lock down measures that it maddening

I’m getting the feeling that this is more the ECBs choosing. I’ve got no real science or reasoning behind it it’s just a hunch.

Those rumours have been confirmed to be bullshit.

ECB confirmed the statement tomorrow will have nothing to do with the recreational game.

30 man training squad announced today for the tests, mostly predictable selections. Any forumites seen much of Ollie Robinson? Seems to have leapt to prominence over the last 18 months a little, the social media highlight reels look rather good.

Is he the sussex seamer? not seen much but heard good things, possibly over shadowed by Jofra down on the south coast.

On a side note, Mo is included, anyone else think he shouldn't be? Bess is the man in possession and has done nothing to warrant being dropped, then there's Leach who, again hasn't done anything wrong.

For me mo is third inline (at best)

I don't think Ali should be selected to play against the West Indies but it's a 30 man squad with 5 spinners, leaving him out of that would be a difficult case to make - and that's before you consider he'd probably be about as good an opener at home as Keaton!
