Very nice. I see you have invested in some higher grade willow with growing confidence.

My supplier is very generous with the willow he has supplied me and I’m very thankful for it. Some lovely willow to be working with both in terms of grains and weights.

They look great! Where did you get the tickers done? Dir you have to commit to a big run of them?

Been quite a busy week with a few repairs and some orders coming through which is a really nice feeling and each bat seems to be getting better and easier to do as well as now having a really good feel for all the tools as well as finding my own way of doing things.

So this is the first of the orders shaped up this evening. SL06 profile and request was long extended middle and max weight of 2lb 8oz finished. This is currently 2lb 6.8oz before sanding has started

Specs for those interested are:
Edges 33mm Max
Toe 17mm edge and 28mm at centre of toe
Shoulder 12mm
Semi oval handle

This is a G2 cleft and I’m going to say it’s one of the best pinging bits of willow Iv ever come across, just a lively response and deep sound with the mallet and old ball.

Oh the side in profile shot was just before I finished the shaping and before I’d finished blending the spine into the toe

what does a sick betta look like

sick betta

Looking great! Seem to have picked it up pretty quickly.

Have you noticed any "trademarks" that come out in your finished products yet? Along the lines of Keeley shoulders, B3 shoulder heights etc. Always find these little nuances between batmakers interesting  :)

Sorry just seen this. I seem to find I make a dropped shoulder shape without thinking about it but apart from that no not really. Had some lovely feedback about the thickness I keep in the toes but also keep a bat balanced which is really good to hear but that’s it really.  These two Iv just finished are only numbers 7 & 8 Iv made fully so a small pond to fish from

The shape to me feels a bit like a cross between a Newbery Thruxton/M&H Amplus/Screaming Cat. Lovely long middle.

I’m trying to ensure that the stock bats I make a mid profile and with the most amount of coverage in the core area of the bat.

The only downside so far Iv come across having made a dozen or so now is that it’s hard to make this shape in a light weight and most I make are around 2.10 - 2.12 so far the feedback Iv had on pick up is really good. I must say that most people are no where near as fussy as us forum people lol.

Also ensuring I give me bats a decent sized toe

Here are a couple more of my Willow & Wand bats that have gone out over the last couple of weeks.

First up is a stunning G1 SL06 profile but 1/2 inch shorter blade and just huge and heavy at 2lb 14oz and off to a forum member

Second is the most popular profile recently which is a SL06 extended profile in G3 willow. This is a low middle bat and being a big lighter at 2lb 9oz bang on finished with 33mm edges and 17mm toe at edge and 24mm at centre of the toe and 15mm shoulders.
