Most recent piece of willow to be commissioned is a back to old skool shape with a modern twist. This is a classic version of my AM18

Edges 24mm
Toe edge 18mm. Toe centre 24mm
Shoulder 16mm
Low profile swell

New stickers have arrived and must say really impressed and they certainly make such a difference.

First new sticks to receive these are a G2 SL06 - 2.10 finished weight, 37mm edges medium concaving, double bound super thick handle as per customers request.

Second is a copy of a old Unknown and was unbranded bat - 2.8 finished weight 23mm edges and totally full shape.

Thanks mate. I’m really pleased with the colours and how they came out in reality to the design work I saw. The green has been the initial colour choice since I started but the gold and black has been the most popular recently so after trying a couple of colour options in small batches I went with these two options and any of the shapes I make will have these two options available.

As for the craftsmanship, thank you almost 18months in now and learning more each month so enjoying it.

So May has continued to be a very busy month with these 3 made up over the last couple of weeks.

These two are off to someone on here, both spine into toe shape light at 2.9 or a little under, 35mm edges on one and 36mm on the other. Both grade 2 and light concaving to keep weight down. Like making the spine into toe shape as it’s a bit more or a challenge.

The third was shaped from a cleft that had a large chunk removed from the rear of the bat during machining so I made a traditional edge, high spine full profile. I based it on the M&H distinction. Weight is 2.10 finished and it’s a G3 with a half heartwood blade.

Got some lovely G3 clefts in at the moment so anyone after a sub £150 bat let me know.

Little upload on the last week or so’s work.

Lovely size 5 G1 SL06 shaped up and off to local lad. I know my first English Willow bat wasn’t anything as nice as this back in the early 90’s.

Finished off this pair of stunners in both my stock shapes but with slight twists of spine into toe as opposed to the normal duckbill shaped toe.
Both nice and light at 2.9.2 and 2.9.9 fully finished with top quality thick U.K. chevron grips.

And finally had a new delivery of willow late last week and just got round to cleaning up and handling these two stunning Butterly clefts. These have lovely grains that are nice and tight and are also fairly light for Butterly so will make some decent sized bats in around the 2.10 range ideally.

Afternoon chaps,

Just had the pleasure of popping over to see Chris got a couple of hours and sorting myself out with a custom butterfly stick!
I’m sure if I’m ask nicely Chris will sort some pictures out over the process of building my new ball whacker!
Was a good couple of hours chatting bats, cricket and looking at a few different clefts times choose my stick from!
I will add I’m pretty easy to make a bat for and Chris was more than helpful in sorting out one to my specs and how I wanted it shaped.
Look forward to seeing the finished result

Here is the custom Butterly finished for @tommo256. Shape was based on a shape the the customer liked and asked me to copy for him. As I do for everyone pictures sent along the way at each stage to ensure customer is happy and I’m in on track to create a bat that the person really likes.

Must say iv made a few shapes now with a spine into toe and they pick up is noticeable light on all of them, this with a mid swell and thick handle is superb even if I do say so myself.

A few pics of this bat.

Also this week I was asked to make a size 3 bat for a local players son who is now starting to train with hard ball. Doesn’t seem to be much on the market in terms of English willow and entry level sizes and I wasn’t able to get a part made cleft lower than a Harrow so used a light cleft that had a knot towards the toe and managed to cut all away for this one as it was a sample anyway wasn’t to bothered  and well pleased how it came out. Finished weight of 1lb 9.8oz and 29mm edges at Peak and full shape, was lovely to see the look on the kids face when he collected it.
