If cricket continues on it's unavoidable path to follow the money we will soon see I think players sponsorship for a series

So an English summer of tests with our test team with the main UK brands
But players who have IPL contracts changing and using that branding for the tournament, so the big Asian companies getting exposure.

Obviously neither will be contenders to sponsor him, but it has also been suggested on here that he likes Kippax and Chase bats.

Are DSC actually a manufacturer?

Well DSC are the ones throwing the cash about, and SS are one of the biggest manufacturers in the game. I reckon they both could ‘afford’ him. I doubt chase/kippax have that kind of money. Could be wrong though.

Not sure on the DSC manufacturing front. Someone else will know!

I don't know, but the DSC stuff looks remarkably similar to ss stuff. I am not saying it is the same, I have no knowledge. But still.

DSC are a big manufacture in India - https://www.deluxsports.com/about-us

They makes all the GM India bats as well as their own. I'm sure they also make for lots of other smaller brands.

Masuri could be a good fit for him.

New thread title - has Jonny used more brands than the average CBF poster?

Personally, I'd like to believe GN did give him the boot for being dishonest.

I'll l get loads of  'everyone does it' stuff shouted at me now.

Whether he was “dishonest” or not depends on the contract. My understanding is they get paid to use the brand stickers, and softs. Is GN different from other sponsors and also contractually obliged players to actually use “made by GN” bats? If so, that would be a bit odd - players source bats from different bat makers and I was under the impression that “sponsorship” just entails using the sponsors stickers. This is why players are always carrying loads of stickers with them.

I think GN and GM pros have to use their bats...pretty sure most of the SS/TON pros use their bats too as the vast majority are branded/laser etched.  Whether they send their own bats in or brand their own bats is a different story...

Well GN soon after had a photo of Sam Billings on their socials with a caption like “for the best, for the ones we trust” which has now been changed to “made by the best”.

That original quote isn’t 100% what it said but it definitely mentioned the word trust, and seemed to clearly be a dig at Bairstow.

Not really. He knows full well he's being paid money to make kids and cricket bat buyers generally believe he uses that brand of bat.

To make them believe something that isn't true is dishonesty in my book.

90% wouldn't notice though. I never noticed until I started coming on here. Genuinely thought Nike/NB/Adidas all made their own bats.

One of the GN execs probably noticed and pulled him up on it. That’s my theory anyway. Maybe said they would not work with him beyond current deal... who knows.

Really not the point.  A dishonest act is not not a dishonest act because you can get away with it.
