I liked Amir, and I think this is a shame. He made a mistake, but he was 18. The Pakistani Cricket Board failed in their duty of care to him, as far as I'm concerned, and the loss of his talent is a disaster. He looked SO GOOD before all this happened.

Don’t blame amir, he’ll make more money on the t20 circuit

In terms of fixing, Waqar was part of the whole fixing gate according to afridi when he was coach before and he’s coach again. Amir has fallen out with Waqar, Waqar rather play his favourites ;)

Believe it was spot fixing, not match fixing which Amir was guilty of. Still not okay but not quite the same.

There is a difference, still harming your teams chances of winning for money, but not match fixing as such of which there have been few convictions. Us v SA is the only one that springs to mind-the Hansie Cronjie declaration.

I'm not excusing Amir but spread betting, first wide, first boundary, etc has made cricket an absolute target for corruption

Cricket will be a target as there are significant sums of money being staked on matches where a number of the participants are fairly modestly rewarded.   Unless the bans for any form interference with the game are servere, the door will keep being pushed over.  Amir was lucky in my view to be allowed to play professionally again

You had a certain former Indian captain and wicket keeper at the centre of it at one point - don’t see anything changing if he could get away with it. Far too much control by gangs.

With all these t20 leagues it’s far more common and easier

Especially the smaller leagues. Few grand from a bookie isn't worth risking regular high paying franchise deals for the players that can get them. If you're an associate player in say the Canadian T20 league, a few grand is probably a lot more of a temptation.
