nah, it'll last because people will fall for the marketing and then people will convince themselves it's 'what the kids want'. Then the beer heads who lets face it, already inhabit the blast, one layers and tests will happily go along to get leathered and boom.. you've got a market.

Slowly kill off all other formats and kill off amateur formats as 'kids don't want them' 'boring' and boom... people then get used to only playing salty snacks cricket and no one knows any different

but it doesn't does it?? no more 20-25yr olds are playing cricket now than 10 years ago... sure, more 5-10 yr olds are as parents like the cheap child care but come the time kids can choose.. they walk away.. oh.. and have you noticed kids ONLY play short format cricket and that STILL doesn't keep them entertained....

I�ve got tickets for the first game at Edgbaston, Friday night, just to see what it�s like. Not expecting much, but maybe I�ll take to it. At the prices, with 50% member discount, it felt a no brainer

Can�t say that living in Suffolk we have anything very close to go and watch but like many for me I don�t think I would anyway as just another batting friendly smash session. I prefer test and championship cricket and then one day cricket over T20, T10 or the new hundred anyway.

or just.. you know.... put all the championship games on live stream with the ability to watch on demand... think of the extra views they'd suddenly get

Exactly this, I hate the implication that cricket is the problem and to make it a success it needs to be changed, rather than marketed. Never mind doing such a poor job of the changes - (No Swearing Please) if I'm getting on a train for an hour to watch 'Welsh Fire'. I'll go down the county ground and have a good time watching the Blast like I have for years.

No reason they couldn't do both, providing a platform to watch streams of county cricket is not a difficult task.

I think T20 has much more of a role in attracting new fans though and I can't see why the 100 was needed to do that when the Blast had the potential to do the exact same without trying to reinvent the wheel.

We are yet to see how this competition is going to impact the game. It could be a massive flop, but it could also be a huge success. We get it you like red ball cricket, but the constant bashing of something that could potentially give the game more coverage and more young players is crazy. Grow the game.

Funny thing about this is that through the entirety of the India tour they were putting ads on TV for the Blast...

I don't like the idea of the new format, I don't think it was needed or really too much different from T20 Cricket.
What is the point of completely alienating your current fan base to find a new one? All for growing the game and finding new fans but must been a better way to do it without pissing off everyone that currently likes the game.

But wow it's going to be some exciting cricket! Genuinely could be one of the highest standard leagues around. Smaller number of teams same talent pool plus 3 overseas player a side.
While I don't like the change in format, bowlers bowling back to back overs etc. will be funky and spice it up a little I think. It won't make it any easier for a new fan to follow mind.

Cannot decide personally. Wont be making any special efforts to go watch it though.
For the players sake and the ECB I hope it works out and gate receipts are high volume. Nobody wants to see cricket in decline. The IPL is a monster and the money that comes with it is too big a pull for the players that are picked for auction. Its a spectacle. The 100 feels like a poor imitation, albeit with some quirks which to be honest I doubt many traditional cricket fans will be excited to see.

The way the game is going they should have put this money into a better BLAST comp with more big name players and have a competing league to the IPL if that's what they are wanting. Fans watch the blast and I'm sure gates would increase if the contracts offered were improved and if they privatised more or franchised then the incentives for players would increase.
Hell the IPL is what it is because of the money these blokes can earn. And they certainly cant earn anywhere near the same at Counties or even on International duties for the most part. What is an England central worth these days to a Test / cross format player 250k? They can earn double that easy for 8 weeks graft in the IPL!!

For crickets sake I hope it succeeds, I really do. But when Test Cricket is still in major decline I cant understand why the ECB would pump all this money into a quirky short format competition when they have bigger problems afoot.
