Would having like IPL players like butler etc back available for the championship games not potentially boost those going to County games as in the audience? So more people likely to attend?

I doubt they'd make much difference. People have had chance to see these players in the Championship before. Anyway, Surrey next two home games are completely sold out. ;)

I'd rather the England internationals who had chosen not to play in County Champoinship didn't now play in those same matches as their second choice. Yes. 100%. Quite a few Surrey members seem to feel the same way.

Entitled to your opinion but that seems daft to me, 'cutting off your nose to spite your face' stuff.

Top players (who chose to play in a league, sanctioned to do so by the ECB, in order to make a great deal of money in a short career and to enhance their chances in a format that has an upcoming WC) are available for county cricket and would almost certainly improve their side and the overall standard of cricket. I don't see the downside or why any of those players shouldn't have gone to the IPL in the first place.

The amount of criticism Bairstow and Buttler and even Sam Curran get for their *coughs* 'red-ball' cri ket on here! Now suddenly they are top players to fit your argument!

Perhaps rickjames would remind me of the last time we saw Tom Curran bowl a decent spell for Surrey.

Isn't Liam Plunkett supposed to be a 'top player' too?

Test cricket and CC are not the same thing. I've actually not seen anybody claim that but feel free to misrepresent what I've said to "fit your argument".

Bairstow et al may be criticised at the Test level, not necessarily unfairly, but Bairstow - for example - has a pretty decent FC record for Yorkshire.

At no point did I say every single English player at IPL is an excellent red ball player, you wrongly inferred that, but it would be daft to the point of ignorant to claim that none of them are quality County Championship players.

As for Plunkett, no idea what the relevance of that is given that he's not involved in the IPL this year.

Shame it took so long for the IPL to get canned with people dying all over the place, but then again that money needs to be laundered somehow!

Plunkett is relevant because he became a 'white-ball specialist' and his proper (you call it 'red-ball' if you like) cricket skills went down the pan quite spectacularly. To the extent that he can barely even get a wicket in second team cricket.

Jonny Bairstow won't put bums on seats in Chsmpionship cricket, and I don't think he's got much future as a Test batsman or wicket-keeper. He made his choice as to where he wanted to spend his April and May.

Sending out a strong message would ultimately benefit English cricket than having these players available for a few matches when it suits them.

Did someone say James Bracey was a decent player?

More wickets for Robinson, surely he has to be involved in the test side this summer.

Still a month until the 1st Test, but might they be leaving the cameras there?

If people don't like that, they don't like cricket?

See Bracey got important runs again, starting to think he is really quite good.

I normally just look at the batsmen on the CC to see who might get a call up, but Robinson of Sussex is being tipped and he's backing it up with a lot of wickets.

Don't think it's just early season pitches either as he's been consistent last 2-3 seasons. Not a speedster he must have the skills to move the ball or swing it not sure which
