Playing for the 3rd vs Merstham away, who are going for promotion as well! , and it's very tight lower on the table, hopefully we'll win coming Saturday
I'll have to set up the field myself

Oppo conceded last night and that’s the 3rd we have had in the last 6 weeks, the most annoying season iv ever been involved in with avg pts and concessions

Played in a close one today, losing by 1 wicket.

Batted first and made 180. Personally got 60 which brings me above 600 runs so far this season. Got bowled trying to kick on as I got a bit bogged down after drinks. It’s certainly the first time I’ve ever been 40 odd at drinks, usually much slower!

We then made a good start with the ball and had them 3 down for cheap. After the fourth fell they put on a big partnership which left them in control. They have one batsmen who gets 70 odd against us every single time despite the fact he plays 90% cut shots and occasionally a nudge to leg. At one point we had: Backward point, point, forward point and deep backward point yet he still managed to get it through which was so frustrating. We then took some quick wickets and with 2 left to go they still needed 40 odd. They then slapped about our second change bowler until I came back on with only a few needed. Bowled a very tight over where the set batsmen was nearly caught off an under edge, had a dolly droped at cover then one which missed off stump by about an inch. We then took the 9th wicket with scores level but their number 11 sliced one over cover for the win.

Annoyingly they had another angry bloke who was constantly questioning our umpire. They all went mental at him for an edge despite the fact our number 4 clearly hit the ground. Then a guy bowled one to me which was about 3 inches away from not pitching on the track. He threw his arms up, asked if we were playing T20 rules then said “at least we know what the rules are when we umpire boys!.” I just don’t get this mentality that every time they don’t agree with a decision they basically announce that they’ll cheat in the second innings. Wouldn’t mind if it was a bad call but I couldn’t have physically reached the ball, perhaps they should try bowling straight.

Yep definitely a frustrating season this year mate, I think they have to go back to normal next season.

We let the oppo get to many yesterday after dropping their pro on about 30 odd (althoughwas a difficultchance TBF), he then made a quality 88. They really do make a big difference sometimes, just be being at the crease, running between the wickets, putting less pressure on the bloke at the other end etc.... their pro now has over 800 runs in 12 knocks @ over 80, really really class batter indeed.

We were 40 short of their 268 in the end. I got 15 and was out LBW to Peter Such's son, who bowled left arm swing, is young and very raw but looks like a good prospect for them. Peter Such ended up coming on as 12th man for them (he was there watching his son) when a player got injured and fielded brilliantly considering he is 57. Apparently he got 5 for nothing last week against our 2's!

Anyone else feeling the blues after playing their last match of the season on Saturday? Not having played at all in 2020, it was wonderful to get some cricket atlast this year, although this might have been one of the worst seasons in terms of rain affected abandonments. For my team, we only played 10 of the scheduled 17 matches. Hey ho, lets hope 2022 is atleast better weather wise; and hopefully we will get to shine the ball again the traditional way :D

After narrowly avoiding relegation with a last day win, I'm ready for a break 😅 give it a few weeks and I'll be missing it! Suspect an eye test and a new prescription may be in order before winter nets though...

2021 T20 Season comes to an end.
Match stats:
2 overs bowled, 0 wickets. I think 14 runs given?
4 balls faced, 1 run scored, 1 duck.
1 catch came to me, taken. No runouts. But had the best fielding season since I've started playing about 5 years ago.

The T20 league campaign ended with 5 matches won, 5 lost. 1 rained off.
All in all I have to see the humor in these stats with having 8/11 matches played  and only done what I've done. There's always a next season.

2 weeks left in our Sat league Season and 3 weeks left on Sunday’s. our first sat league game was 6th april from memory, seems the Two Counties league Essex & Suffolk is a lot longer than many others.

The fact the divisions for the top end are 12 teams (assuming no one drops out…) means it’s a nice long league season!
And not like things will change, seems very difficult to get rule changes approved by the league.

Quite a manic season at my club, 5 out of our 6 league teams got promoted (our 5th and 6th are in same Div).

1/2/3/4 teams won the league whilst 5XI missed out by a point after failing to bag the minimum 7 points needed on the last day of the season.

We turned out 7 teams every week and even had an 8th team on 6 occasions. The 1XI are now upto WEPL Prem 2 which is the highest level our club has ever played at after 3 promotions on the bounce and only losing 1 game all season.

As u can imagine it was quite a heavy night celebrating at the club last Saturday!

Personally my cricket has been terrible but glad to have played some part in helping teams win games this season.

@Ayrtek Cricket - that fantastic effort by all your teams - well done - how in the hell do you run 6 teams in Bristol though??? - where do you find the space to play?

That’s the challenge, we’ve got our own ground in Henleaze which has 2 pitches next to each other and rented another just over the road where our 5th’s played.

Our 6th’s played just down the at the University ground but it’s a struggle as you can imagine with lack of pitches around week in week out.

i can't imagine the organisation that is needed to do that - very impressive!!! there are some clubs near me that have 3/4 teams and only 1 ground - (luckily - or unluckily depending on how you look at it) there are also clubs in the area who are struggling and only have 1 team - so they often hire out the ground the weekends they are away from home

only weird bit i find is that some of those grounds are 15+ miles from the home ground where the 1s/2s play - would make me think i'm playing away/or for a different club every week :) whereas you guys being quite close must make it still feel like '1 club'
