Thanks JT

Great bat info

We’re you unlucky with the ping of the bat , it is a bit of a lottery ?
It is a total lottery @Thamesvalley but the Hypa (I keep calling it Hydra for all you Marvel nerds) is lovely. I think I might even use it as the match bat for 2023 and I wouldn't have normally written that about a GM. It is a firm press but the response is excellent. The response from the Brava is akin to the response I get from my 13 year nephews if I asked them if they want to go out rather than play the PS5...disappointing. The Hypa is definitely the best responding GM I've ever had and I'll had...and sold many, many GM's. The Brava is one of the worse and I've had and sold many, many GM's.

Great shape though

As a big Gm bat buyer how long do you think these will take knocking in wise ?

Do you still bone edges or just focus on edges and the toe

Are either taking seam marks JT ?

Depends on how long you wish to knock them in for and your patience levels. I would say knock them in for around 4-6 hours and then have throw downs and nets with soft/old balls. It depends whether you trust the GM now. These bats take more playing in rather than knocking in (but that's just my experience). It is entirely up to you and whether you have access to a bowling machine.

The edges are already boned. I focus on the whole bat but that's just my preference.

Seam marks on the harder Brava as opposed to the Hypa.

Thanks

As someone that used GM for years before my own brand and as JT says it’s a playing in thing with GM. They had a reputation for harder pressing which I don’t think is actually the case. Personally I feel that they have very stiff handles and it’s using the bat in nets and flexing the handles that really brings a GM into its own. Remember the video of Marnus standing on the handle on a boundary rope? Well I do that with all my GM bats on a brick actually and put weight on both front and back before I use for the first few months ( I only net once a week if that even during the season) and always found it really helps. Now that could be a me thing or a mental thing but as JT says I always used a net one for a winter before it saw match use. Hope that helps a little.

Greatly :)

Although standing a bay on a brick the fear of Snapping the handle

Is there another trick using something at home inside the house but wither the same affect as a rope ?

But are you able to post the pics ..

Anything that gives elevation will do a sturdy book will be fine, I’m also not standing on the handle but applying gentle pressure to flex the handle

Just had a little look at the GM website, most of the kit is there now.
Not going to lie, the prices for the top of the range stuff are very high.
I know costs have gone up and testing etc. But I think they could be off putting for most people. More than £300 for a pair of pads and gloves...

191.96 OLE Pads
156.96 OLE Gloves
699.95 OLE Bat
749.95 Players Edition Bat
Quite the expensive sport.

Even an 808 Kit is somewhat expensive now. Nearly 100 for 808 pads!  :(

They do sell at RRP to try I think and encourage the support from retails. For example the LE pads are around £140-£150 from most retailers but still very expensive as are all big brands softs and as from what we heard the only companies that have paid for testing are Chase and Aldred I believe but of course could be wrong. Very nice softs though best of the big brands in my opinion

Having not bought kit for a few years I'm a bit out of the loop but 260 GBP for an 808 is absolutely mental!

I remember when I purchased my first senior GM back in 2006, it was a Hero 808 and that was 130 GBP......how times have changed.
