Have to feel a bit sorry for him as it sounds like the CA employee in question is lashing out because she's been accused of theft.

This is news.

The entire resignation seemed bizarre after supposed investigation and Payne's clearance. I guess, CA simply doesn't want any scandal around Ashes and Payne is replaceable.

According to some articles she reported his messages a year later after she was accused of theft. Believe the Daily Mail covered that aspect in a bit more depth.

What's going on with Wade? Where is he landing?

I don't follow AUS cricket but I would have thought he was the natural replacement for Paine?

His stock will have rose for sure after the T20 semi final win of which he was key

They've got plenty other options. Carey would have been my first bet based on having played for their white ball sides quite a bit.

I haven't seen the article. So, it was a deflection-tactic by the woman (accused of theft) and it has cost Tim Paine his career 3 years later.

That's one way of seeing it. Personally I'd be disinclined to feel sorry for someone who cheated on their spouse with a colleague and had to step down from a prestigious appointment because of the disrepute it brought.

He hasn't lost his career, he's just lost a prestigious role that I'm sure he valued. Bear in mind also that he hasn't and won't lose his family which some might say is deserved for cheating on your wife/husband...

His wife forgave him after the inquiry, no?

Did he actually cheat on his wife? This is nowhere in the news.

Seems to have been a confidential internal inquiry so she wouldn't know about it unless he told her

Definitely a technicality shielded his wife from the sordid details.  :D :D :D

He was sexting another woman behind his wife's back, I think that's fairly clear.

CA confirm Smith is one of the candidates to take over.

Does that send the right messages or has he served his ban and the slate is clean.

I wonder what we would think if it was an English captain

If its the best thing for the team then why not. Wrong message? Depends if he truely has changed.
