Why all White?
« on: February 14, 2022, 03:56:37 PM »

As ever I constantly look around eBay and stockists to see what pads are on the market, it's very obvious to notice the lack of pads offering dark colored straps and inner sections.

I get that the all white look is nice but after a few games the sweat features are there and obvious. Not much of a problem to most but some OCD people like myself it's an issue.

What brands and pads are out there currently like the BAS ones below offering something different?

I did the same a few years back and used black on the inside of them, feedback was that people preferred the all-white look despite the obvious advantages of the black now showing the dirt so easily.

Even an off white would be better. I agree.
Plus if you field first then have to open the batting your pads can be pretty grotty pretty quickly.

But that would be if you dived around, so my pads stay pretty clean... 😂😂

I raised this in a wanted post a year or so ago, completely agree with you. Majority on here didn't see the issue but used white on inside pads look grim

I'm that sad that I carry 2 pairs of whites, one for batting and one for fielding which I'm talking another step further and adding in a second pair of spikes for the same reason. The modern airflow pad materials are also far better at reducing those horrible sweat stains from equipment available 10+ years ago.

Thanks, its why I asked Tom to make them. My set served me very well! And do not look grubby. Don’t understand the boring  all white that get grubby.

I wish I had  done grey mesh to replicate the carbon look of the  helmet in hindsight.

Not looking to hijack Mark’s thread, but is there a way to get sweat/diet stains out of the back bit of batting pads? I was thinking about this very subject after Friday night nets as I use the same pair of GN Prestige pads for practice and games and the mesh/fabric area is looking pretty meh to say the least. Was wondering if there is some sort of foam/upholstery cleaner or something I could rub in and vacuum out?

It’s good to see others actually have a similar opinion to mine on this

Did some of those too, can’t remember who bought them now as this was back in 2018 now.

As Tom's already alluded to, it's just market demand - I used to toy about with coloured sections on the rear to try and limit the sweat marks, but the feedback was always to stick with as much white as possible.

Personally I used to really like those carbon style rear pads of Tom's, but I know I'd sell less than the all white ones at the moment for whatever reason. Unfortunately it's what the customer wants, not just me these days! :D
