1. A good old fashioned dead wicket for Test cricket is a pleasant change when Test matches are ending in 3 or 4 days. Every one scores runs and improves their averages. :D

2. When a host country is without Test cricket for so many years, you just want your fans to watch cricket for all 5 days. Why wrap up a game in a hurry with a result when you can hearken back to golden age of Test cricket when results were far and few.

3. This is great for team AUS. They got a chance to play for full 5 days in a foreign condition. Think of it as a warm-up match that will sharpen everyone for the next match.

I say grab a cup of tea, snacks or cake, and enjoy some good ol' fashioned Test cricket.  With news of pandemic and wars all around us, I say chill with some boring Test cricket. I'd take it any day.  ;)

I do understand your view however what I don't understand is how pitches are either 'over in 3 days' or 'flatter than the m25' wickets. Have groundsman lost the art of preparing the middle ground of a wicket that will be good for batting and bowling to make it last the 5 days. That is a general worldwide question.

I think there is a lot of pressure on groundsmen from the boards to produce certain types of tracks and in some ways that produces good cricket and in other ways it goes to far. Think of the 2 day match in India and this latest teat as prime examples of getting it to far eairher way

@SOULMAN1012  and @six and out , I would look at the second match pitch and the outcome of the subsequent matches. I will stick with my original assertion that first match was designed to let everyone play and acclimate to the different South Asian conditions.

This series has been bloody awful so far. It’s just been an exercise for the batsmen to massage their averages smh.

252/0
484/7 ongoing

The quick bowlers will need spine transplants after the series.

True so far but it is not one sided. AUS put up 580+ runs ! That's a mountain of runs. AUS is in a position to win. If the pitch starts turning, this will be a fun Test to watch.

Agreed, both the two pitches used in this series and the pitch used at Antigua have been absolutely abject surfaces. Run scoring has been a turgid affair with nothing to encourage the bowlers.

There are enough threats to test cricket without the self imposed damage imposed though awful pitches

Seems like mental disintegration from Pakistan. Frazzled in the field for over 2 days. 6 down before reaching 100.
