Yup - so nobody's driving the bus (or nobody with a brain is driving the bus!)
I don't often agree with Vaughan, but he's absolutely right - promising county batters were looking at this side, and the only slot free was No.3 - why wasn't Pope et al banging on their coaches door, demanding to bat no3 rather than scoring easy runs at 5 or 6?
NZ are a good side, with a good attack, so this was always possible - but there are plenty of openers / no3's in the frame - people who are used to batting in that position, have we really given ourselves a chance to get runs early in our innings?
Crawley's not looking so bad at the mo, and I'm sorry, but I remain unconvinced by Lees.
Most importantly, we had sooooooooooo much time, so more than a little blame must lie at the door of Stokes / Root / Bairstow, to fail to recognise that grinding out a slow 25 would've put us in a good position tonight.
Out test batting just makes me so angry at the moment.
