Whoever they pick is likely to struggle while they play so little.
Cook in his column has basically said it’s brainless not playing any FC cricket before an important series and in the best part of the summer.
I’m afraid whether we like it or not they cannot cram in any more formats so the oldest format has to give. The money piled into the hundred is so much it’s a project that cannot fail.
Personally I think it’s a load of (No Swearing Please).
But lump it we will have to I think.
As far as picking another opener goes, it would be someone tried before, someone with early season form or someone doing well in the short format.
The selectors who often get panned on this forum really do have a job to pick batsmen.
How many have we tried since Cook/Strauss? I’ve lost count.
