Knocking question
« on: January 19, 2023, 08:29:23 AM »

Guys if u use a quality clear scuff sheet, does using it reduces or should reduce the knocking in time?

I did bought a bat recenlty here in India, shop did machine knock, i did abut 2 more hours of knocking (30 mins on each edge, 30 mins in the toe area and 30 mins on the face)

I am about to put a clear scuff sheet... but i am not 100% sure if this is the appropiate time to do it or should knock a bit more...

Will like to hear ur advice guys...

Tap a ball up on the bat a few times, if there's deep seam marks keep going, if not whack a sheet on and get in the nets - sounds like you should have done enough unless the bat is particularly soft!

Yep, wouldn't add the sheet until you're satisfied you've done enough knocking in.

In ur experience (that is def more than me) are SS bats considered "soft" ?

Don't really have much SS experience I'm afraid! It will vary from bat to bat though, the best way to check is if a leather ball leaves a deep seam mark or not when tapping up - if it does just spend a bit more time knocking in until it doesn't!
